Pete Franklyn is travelling with us in his steel trawler.
Rolling Stone, our new to us trawler, is anchored in Georgian Bay awaiting the delayed opening of the Trent Severn Waterway.
She was splashed this morning after 2 years on land. Everything seems to be working including the diesel furnace.
The plan is to sail to Deseronto where we will put her in storage for a year while we return home to Newfoundland for the summer and a Florida for the winter.
The waterway is a week late opening due to high water levels. We now learned that this first lock will be further delayed for an uncertain amount of time. We are travelling with Pete Franklin who is also anchored close by on Gray Ghost, a 32 foot trawler. We are stuck on the boat because we had to deflate our dinghy to put the mast down to enable us to clear bridges. Hopefully it is not too long a delay or the Captain will surely abandon ship.
it is cool and raining as it has been all night and all day not helping the water levels receed. We are in a comfortable anchorage and the boat is toasty warm. We have lots of food so
Anchored near Lock 45 at Port Severn
all is good.
