After I finished my summer final exam in August 25th, I went to Toronto to meet my family there. While on the airplane, I was thinking to make a little surprise for my family at the hotel. Unfortunately, they gave me a surprise by picking me up at the Toronto airport. They said, it’s gonna cost me a lot of money to pay taxi. So, we used bus from the airport, heading to Kipling, where the subway station in Toronto. We changed into the subway station and stop at the station close to the Comfort Hotel. It was around evening time, so we just take rest. Tomorrow morning, August 26th, we ready to go to Niagara Falls! I fell so exciting! We used a day-tour to Niagara Falls. The first stop was Niagara Winery. We tried ... read more

Today we woke up and got ready to go to Niagara Falls. We had a quick breakfast and set off along the highway. When we reached Niagara the sight was absolutely unbelievable! The around the lake there was Victorian Era housing. The falls themselves were massive, with unimaginable amounts of water flowing over them - enough to fill million bath tubs every second. When you drove by them there was so much mist that clouds were formed and a light rain fell. We parked the truck and walked over to the top of the falls, where you could see the calm water flowing peacefully in Lake Eerie before its plummet down 78 feet. After spending 20 or so minutes just watching the water and taking some pictures, we walked into the main building to buy everyone ... read more

Good Morning America! Laura and I have had a great week in the Western New York and Canada area. We started out the week at my high school friend Amy's wedding in Silver Lake. It was a weekend camping/outdoor wedding and probably one of the coolest weddings we have been to yet. Everything was low stress and wonderfully done. The bride and groom were married by the lake, there was a giant s'more cake, great food great company. I am sure they will have a wonderful marriage. Besides the wedding we have been putzing around my mom's house visiting various family friends, we mostly just relaxed and enjoyed having a house to roam around in. I watched tons of TV, caught up on internet-ing and phone-ing and registered for fall classes. CWU is on the quarter ... read more

This morning we left Niagara Falls and Canada, having thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We had a leisurely breakfast for once, since we were in no hurry to get anywhere. We crossed the border one last time and changed our Canadian casino winnings for good old, but less valuable (!), US dollars. Then we headed to Letchworth State Park, home of the "Grand Canyon of the East." About two hours later we arrived and visited the park for a few hours. After the crowds of Niagara Falls, this was a welcome change of pace. Quiet and peaceful. And it was a gorgeous day with a high in the low 80s. The park was interesting and there were cabins and campgrounds and play areas and trails and old-timey snack bars ... it reminded me of the kind of ... read more

(Today's guest blogger - Allison!) The day was gorgeous - bright blue sky and a nice breeze. We started out with a brisk (and long) walk to the docking area for the "Maid of the Mist," the boat that takes you right up to the falls. It took us a while to figure out where to go to stand in line, but we finally got in the right one. We put on our snazzy blue ponchos - no easy feat in the wind - and set out for the falls. First we rode past the American falls, which are fairly straight across and have lots of giant, fierce-looking boulders at the bottom. The water wasn't very rough at this point. As the boat got closer to the Canadian falls, which are called Horseshoe Falls, the ride ... read more

Woke up to thunder and lightning and heavy rains … so, the Falls Experience will have to wait until tomorrow. We did visit the Niagara Falls Welcome Center and learned some interesting things. Such as the story of a young boy who, after a boating accident threw him overboard in the Niagara River, became the only person to survive going over the falls unintentionally! After seeing the falls somewhat up close, I can’t fathom how anyone could live through that. We also saw one of those ‘4D’ movies about the formation of the falls – got us pretty wet even though we were wearing ponchos. Surprisingly, it was pretty entertaining. We also ventured out onto the observation deck as the sun sometimes peeked through the raindrops – so I did get a few pictures. Tomorrow we ... read more

Arrived in one piece, a little over 5 hours from the reunion in Hollidaysburg. Great drive up except for the big backup crossing into Canada. But the actual border crossing was pretty painless - turn over your passport, answer a couple questions like: "Do you have any guns, explosives, or pepper spray?" ... That pretty much runs the gamut, don't you think? 30 seconds later we were on our way. The hotel is very nice, and we got upgraded to a 'loft' room - 2 stories, with the bedroom upstairs. It looks like a cool apartment in a 60's movie. And we look right out at Horseshoe Falls, with the Bridal Veil Falls just down the river a bit. The main boulevard is sort of glitzy/touristy looking - almost Vegas Jr.-like. We walked out there a ... read more

On Thursday morning we started the 4 hour drive to Fenwick (a little town near Niagara Falls) to stay with Chris and Dave's friends Judith and Phil for a few days. The drive down was rather interesting as we saw a lot of a Mennonite people, who are an Amish sect - took a few pictures but felt a bit cheeky! They were on their horse drawn carriages and working out in the fields, it is odd to think that people still exist in such a simple way in today's society. We stopped at a Tim Horton's for some iced cappucinos (have had way too many of these this week) and then travelled on down to Guelph where we stopped for some lunch. On the second part of the journey down the temperature reached 38°C , ... read more

We spent three lovely nights in Kamsack and were fed delicious hearty home cooking and jumped at the chance to get some major laundry done. BJ’s aunt Gloria and his Grandma were great hosts, they not only filled our bellies but showed us a thing or two about Rummy strategies. We played lots of cards, slept in and even got a good run session in while we were in town. After getting loaded up with food from Gloria we hit the road and made our way to Manitoba. We decided to head west of Winnipeg for our first campground, considering our best friend Becky is spending the summer in Calgary and was not around to chill with. We seem to have pretty good luck or coincidence so far with this trip, as BJ really wanted to ... read more

Geo: 43.1066, -79.0642 We got up and drove to the Black Creek Pioneer Village and went through it. It had a lot of buildings from around the mid 1800's. It also had people in costume who gave tours of the buildings, as well as tradesmen doing their crafts. We left there and headed for Niagara Falls. We got in around 5;00PM, checked in at our B&B and headed downtown for some dinner. We got our first glimpse of the falls. The next morning we bought an Adventure Pass and headed to the Maid of the Mist boat tour. They give you very stylish rain gear to wear on the boat. We took our hosts advise and stayed on the bottom level at the back and didn't get too wet at all. Next, we headed over to ... read more
