Have heard so much about the Niagara Falls, finally got to get near it. Came direct upon arrival in NYC. Had to run from Terminal 5 to 2 to catch the flight to Buffalo. Had to beg the officer to check us in at the last minute, and phew! The flight was delayed. We had some time to breath at the boarding gate. Drive from Buffalo to Niagara Falls on the Canadian side. We finally got there after approx 30 hrs! Checked in a nice cosy B&B, The Rex Hotel, and the owner was really sweet! She even made us some cheese pastry... Extremely yummy! Explored the Falls on the following day, and we took a ferry to get real close to the Falls. So freaking cold! The volume of water was so overpowering. We could ... read more

Well I have left mountain Canada and flew from Edmonton this morning to Toronto and I am currently at Niagara Falls. Edmonton airport isn't overly hectic and took me about 40 minutes to get there in the morning peak. Driving around Edmonton lately I have noticed that the government is spending HEAPS of money on road infrastructure. The number of new lanes, bridges and extensions to their freeways is staggering and contrasts with the stagnant nature of our roads back home. For only a city of roughly 750,000 they certainly have big ring roads and freeways, they can't help the layout of their downtown but get away from the city centre and the roads improve dramatically. Checking in was pretty easy and the line for security was pretty organised, plenty of people but there was decent ... read more

10am and we checked out of our hotel, stepped outside as it poured down with rain. The door man hailed the taxi for us. We arrived at the airport two and a half hours before our flight. Checked in, and then found a café inside the airport which had ipad’s for people to use in the middle of the table. That kept us entertained for the rest of the time. Boarded the plane to discover once again we were in the first row after first class - which meant more extra leg room! Loving delta airlines! The flight was only an hour and we were soon in Buffalo NY. Took a shuttle bus across the border to enter Ontario Canada! Didn’t take long at all, stamp in the passport and we were soon at our hotel ... read more

Shame on me dat ik alweer zolang niets geschreven heb.

Within the Region of Niagara, there are so many interesting destinations to visit throughout the year & festivals to endure in. The Niagara Region is one of the most romantic places to visit throughout the seasons. And is home to some of the best wines, ice wines & fruit within Canada alone!!! The Falls of Niagara was created at the time of the Last Ice Age, from two glaciers and from the newly formed body of water that formed the Great Lakes, in which also paved a path to the Niagara Escarpment in route to the Atlantic Ocean. Over 4 million cubic feet of water flow over the falls on an average setting per a minute, and the falls itself is relatively not high in height, but rather wider in width. Niagara Falls is one of ... read more

I woke up at 10am in the morning on a very hard floor in a not so nice hotel room. It wasn't the most pleasant wake up and we had less than an hour to rush out and pack the car. Everyone was a little stressed but sure enough by 11am we were on the road and on our way to Niagara Falls, just an hour down the road. The weather was better than the previous day and the sun shining bright. It was still crisp cold outside. We stopped at what looked like a tourist hotspot and asked for directions. We realised that the place we had stopped was a water park inside a hotel with lots childish decorations including a strange talking moose. We found out that we were only 5 minutes away. Driving ... read more

DAY 37 Had a sleep in for us - got up at around 8am ready for our Niagara tour. We headed downstairs to I-Hop for breakfast. I had an omelette and some pancakes - which i couldn’t finish as i was still recovering from the Nachos the night before. Scott had pancakes, bacon, eggs, sausage and ham. It was fairly expensive by the time tax and tips were added on, not really worth the price, but it was easy and we couldn’t really be bothered walking anywhere else. We headed downstairs at 9.45am ready for our tour pick up. The bus arrived on time and we started our tour driving around the top of the Niagara River. The tour guide pointed out a lot of things along the way - the tunnels that are dug out ... read more

DAY 36 Got up at around 7.30am and headed down to arrange transport to the airport. We organized a shuttle as it was just as cheap as a taxi. It was going to pick us up at 11am. We headed next door to the deli for breakfast, for my last brekky in USA, i got the same as the day before raisin and cinnamon bagel with cream cheese which was delicious! Scott got a bacon, cheese and egg croissant. We then headed to Times Square to the Disney store which had only opened the day before. We found some more cool things to buy - just to add some more weight to our bags! We headed down to Midtown Comics which Scott had been meaning to check out all week - but they didn’t open til ... read more

Leaving Cleveland after breakfast in our trusty hire car, Steve, Jo, Rich and I took to the highway to Canada. It took us around 4 hours to find our way and after a few cheeky comments to border control (from Richard) we were allowed to enter the wonderful country that is Canada. Cheeky comments as follows:- Security Guard “Why are you going to Niagara Falls?” Richard “To see Niagara Falls” (said with the tone of - are you completely stupid?) Security Guard “Do you have any firearms, knives, mace or pepper spray?’ Richard “No, but we passed a shop back there but we didn’t stop, we kept on driving” We very quickly realised that our hotel was literally overlooking Niagara falls and we had all of about 45 mins to check in at our hotel and ... read more

Thursday 14th October Toronto to Niagara Falls We awoke to crappy weather today. It was cold and raining. We were to do a walking tour but because of the weather Henk being the resourceful guide that he is, took us underground and showed us city hall and an interesting mural made in relief with thousands of nails. We jumped on the bus and made our way to the CN Tower, a massive structure that seemed to breach the low clouds. This was an optional tour that the five of us decided to take, I'm glad we did because even though the weather wasn't the best the view was fantastic. Looking out over the sprawling city of Toronto and Lake Ontario. It was cold and windy but enjoyable. From Toronto we took the relatively short bus ride ... read more
