A filmshoot I had in Niagara Falls afforded Robyn and me a nice getaway for Labor Day weekend.

We got to Buffalo and drove up to Niagara Falls from there. My shoot lasted only a few hours in the morning and so Robyn and I got a splendid sweet and savory crepe at Paris Crepes Bistro Café on Queen street. Then we had just enough time in the afternoon to visit “Bird Kingdom” (what’s most important really). We had a blast seeing so many birds and even feeding the mild mannered lorikeets. They perched calmly on our shoulder and drank nectar with glee from a little plastic cup. One particularly lazy one stayed on my shoulder for a LONG time, I nicknamed him “Turtles”.

Robyn and I walked down and saw the “strip” that Niagara Falls has built on the Canada side. It’s so trashy and feels like Reno or Vegas without the money. But it’s actually better than the American side, which is even worse, if possible.

After getting a bite we took a stroll by the falls (illuminated in changing colors at night) and caught the fireworks show over the falls. Beautiful and romantic.
