The Clearview Train Trail
is a nice easy ride passing through farmland. It joins Stayner and Collingwood, Ontario.
The Clearview Train Rail is 12 km but it connects with other trails in Collingwood to make for a distance of 16 km from Stayner to Collingwood's Millennium Park (beside the grain terminals.) There are portable toilets at his site.
The trail follows an abandoned rail line. Unlike most “rails to trails” however, this trail is NOT on the rail bed. The abandoned tracks are left in place and can be seen below the overgrowth! The actual trail runs very close to the rusted tracks.
There is ample parking at Station Park in Stayner
(7259 Hwy. 26 and Huron Street) There are also two portable toilets at this location. More parking is behind Coffee Culture restaurant, across
The first section of the trail is fairly shaded with dense coniferous trees. Later on, the trail is more open with wide-open fields and cattle grazing or hay fields.
About ½ way there, is a harness racing oval.
There are about 5 county road crossings and when you get into Collingwood, there are more road crossings, controlled with traffic lights. More Photos below ……
