The new roads built in Nova Scotia led us to Mahone Bay and Lunenburg a UNESCO heritage site. Beautiful coloured buildings nestled in the bay on many levels. The hillsides are very steep and overlook the quiet bay with old wooden sailing boats and small fishing vessels. The churches were all in a row and so if you are not welcome in one type of religious organization then there is another next door. Lutheran/ Unitarian/Anglian/ Baptist etc. Very colourful churches with their manses next door overlooking the estuary. The locals are mainly artists and artisans and the folk scene is prolific. The art is modernistic and vivid in colour just as the buildings are . Large range of colours on show from the usual red to vivid purple.
