With the Temptations crackling through the speaker, and at 2 A.M. since we had to be there 2 hours in advance to catch the 5:30 ferry to Newfoundland, we headed out. Although I have been auto ferries before, never have I seen one of this size. I don't know how many vehicles it holds, but the number is certainly in the hundreds. You leave your car and proceed upstairs where they have multiple TV's, several restaurants and cafes, snacks, and comfortable reclining seats. The passage took about 5.5 hours, and was certainly comfortable enough. Once on land again, we had a drive of about 460 km to Grand Falls-Windsor NL.
Newfoundland is a large island with large table mountains and other peaks, with the highest point being Mt. Caubvick at 5420 feet. The surface is punctuated with small brooks, streams, and rivers and large lakes. Other than the geography, we mostly devoted ourselves getting to our next stop for the evening in Grand Falls-Windsor.
