We awoke this morning in St. Martins, New Brunswick to a cool and foggy day. It was 62 degrees at 8:00 am and little did we know that the mercury would rise no higher today. Tim and Lynn really wanted to see the sunrise here so Tim set his phone alarm to go off at 5:20 am. He actually got up three different times waiting and watching for the sun but the fog was just too dense so they didn’t get to see it. There were only two showers on each side so we girls had to rotate in and out but we all eventually had our turn. After her shower, Heidi put on a hot pot of coffee while Jason gathered all the trash, they are really getting into this camping thing ! We were ... read more

It was time to say good bye to Bar Harbor, Maine and to our son Jonathan. His week was over and it was time for him to head on back home to Pennsylvania and off to work again on Monday morning. We were up at the crack of dawn today, somewhere around 6:00 am. We all managed to make our way to the bath house and get ready just in time to leave by 7:15 am. On the way to the airport in Bangor, Maine we came to the consensus that all of the girls were morning people but the boys were definitely NOT ! Heidi and Lynn thought that maybe a cup of hot coffee would cheer up the boys so they proceeded to get out the coffee pot and brew up some of that ... read more

We left Prince Edward Island via Confederation Bridge, then enjoyed two days of driving through New Brunswick. After some non-descript highways we took quiet country roads and two river ferries through the pretty lower St John River valley, arriving in Fredericton where it was Saturday night mayhem at the restaurants and cinemas. The next day we drove the upper St John River valley, calling on the longest covered bridge (182m) in the world at Hartland, then the Potato World Museum, where a lovely young lady Jane took us on a surprisingly interesting tour. The Museum is at Florenceville, world HQ of McCains and therefore french fry capital of the world. Then on to Quebec to stay the night in the town of Riviere du Loup. We saw no moose on our travels but were constantly warned ... read more

Since some people still don't know about this adventure back in May of this year.... I woke up on a saturday morning, rolled over to look out the window and saw clear blue skies. The forecast had been for showers & a thunderstorm. What was I going to do to enjoy this little break in the crappy weather? Check out the beach? ... I felt it wasn't enough, still not alot of people around I thought. I wanted to do something special, something just for me ... that's it, it's the first weekend of skydiving and I've been wanting this for awhile. Head over to the drop zone to see if they're flying ... they can take me right away :P I gear up and since I am going tandem and it is my 1st time, ... read more

Day 18, Thursday Yesterday's favorable weather forecast held overnight so by 11 I was riding south toward Fundy National Park. I took the shore road #915 into Alma. It got cold along the water. I'm thinking that even in the dead of summer when that cold ocean water come in it must really cool things down in this area. I stopped at a bake shop in Alma for a cookie before heading into the park. There is a booth where you pay your entry toll but there is also a lane that passes right on by. I saw lots of cars zooming right past but I did'nt know if they perhaps had a season pass or what the deal was. I got to the booth and asked if I paid an entry fee if I was ... read more

Day 17, Wed. The sun was shining and the forecast was good so I rode into Moncton and through the downtown core. Plenty of pubs for later. I headed to magnetic hill to see what all the fuss was about. Cars pay $5 but motorcycles are free. Good thing too. Once I saw it I laughed the whole time I was riding and rolling the 200 foot length. What an anti-climactic waste. They have built a water park, zoo, train ride, shops, etc. around a tiny strip of road. I could'nt believe it. I gassed up and headed South past the camp and on to where I spotted another covered bridge. I was going to carry on to Alma and Fundy National Park but decided to save that trip for tomorrow since it is supposed to ... read more

Day 16. 5317Km. Not much to report today. I left Glen Margaret mid morning headed for Moncton. I arrived at the campground in Lower Cape around 3:30, unloaded the bike and took off for a ride. This was the first day it was actually warm enough that I did'nt feel a chill while riding. I rode down the coast a bit and spotted a small covered bridge before turning back and going into Hillsborough for a loaf of bread.... read more

Day 7, Sunday The sun was bright so it was a day to ride despite the wind. I climbed out of bad with a sore lower left back. Did I sleep funny? Oh, I bet it's from picking up the bike yesterday morning. When loading the bike in the morning I approached the ramp on too much of an angle and when I stopped I had no footing. A bruise to my ego and the ramp but thankfully no damage to the bike. I gassed up in Caraquet and headed East. I wanted to ride to the tip of Miscou Island. I rode down to road 113 and headed straight to the lighthouse. I've never been really far North but this is what I would expect to see. Not much foliage, mostly scrub. Is it too ... read more

Day 6. 2484Km. I figured I should commemorate my last morning in Quebec (for now) with a traditional Joe Louis and a Pepsi for breakfast but since I had no cakes peanut butter on toast would have to do. Oh well... maybe on the return pass. I pulled out at 11a.m. on the nose so in the interest of time I shaved a few k's off by taking HWY 198 south before joining up with my familiar friend from the last few days HWY 132. I drove right through Perce just snapping a couple shots out the window. It's a rock! Wanna see an anomaly? Go see the remaining protrusions in New Mexico desert like Elephants Feet. I bid Quebec adieu at Pointe-a-la-Croix at 3:20p.m. with 2250Km under my belt and arrived in Campbellton, NB an ... read more

On Friday, we drove the few hours from Fredericton to St. John, New Brunswick. Sarah told us she wanted to see the reverse falls, which has something to do with the Bay of Funde meeting the St. John River and exploding or something. She wanted to be there at noon because of something with the tides. I slept most of the drive, after reading a bit, and woke up when we stopped at what I thought were the falls. I was blurry, but saw cars and a fence and a plain-looking building that said St. John Airport. Still fuzzy. Sarah jumps out and says, “Happy Easter!” and runs inside. Honestly, I thought she had figured out a way to get my package up here from the house or something. Then I saw her walking towards us ... read more
