"Think of the long trip home. Should we have stayed at home and thought of here? Where should we be today? Is it right to be watching strangers in a play in this strangest of theatres? What childishness is it that while there’s a breath of life In our bodies, we are determined to rush to see the sun the other way around?" - Questions of Travel, Elizabeth Bishop There’s a series of moments in traveling, periodic enlightenment, aha moments per say, and I live for them. They aren’t fancy, or always overwhelming. They’re usually quiet and unnoticed. My eyes grow wide, and I feel wild and childish, like a little girl who’s just seen the ice cream truck. New York New York (beautiful-hot-addictive) New York, what do I love about New York. The grass, thick, ... read more

Motorhome News from North America 22. 1st -12th September 2006 Nova Scotia - Cape Breton to The Bay of Fundy and ghostly ships Bright rose hips are gathering in the hedgerows and maple leaves are showing their first signs of change; those pale shades of yellow and chestnut brown, as we pass along the highway. Fall will be with us all too soon but we must mark time for a while to fulfil our plans to reach New England and the blaze of colour dreamed of for so long. Winnie was booked in for minor maintenance at Adventure Sports at Dartford, just outside Halifax, in the caring hands of Dave’s men, Scott and Michael. Whilst we waited, Janice came with me to the gent’s barbers - just to make sure they cut it short enough to ... read more

Over night it poured, I think we need to build an arc. Dickson Falls was our first stop. With some rain/drizzle we hiked out to the falls in a deep valley, mostly on a boardwalk/steps. The rain has created lush wilderness with delightful smells of wood and pine. Herring Cove, our next stop, is a viewing spot for the tides of Fundy, the highest tides in the world. We caught the tides as high tide was approaching. The best time to view the tides is low tide, oh well! A quaint covered bridge leads us to Point Wolf. The trail winds down to a cove with some lovely rocks. It is now such a treat to return to the Bothan, out of the rain for some hot soup. Time to dry off. Our trip in the ... read more
