WE woke to a brilliant pink sky. Sunrise wasn’t for a while yet but the sky was anticipating it’s arrival. Marg and I both showered in the exceptional showers and were home for the sun rise . We didn’t have the Oh God sunrise of yesterday but it was wonderful. We broke camp, had breakfast and headed out for Alma by 8:55 am. Yesterday we met a woman from St.John’s who said how wonderful it was so we had to see it. Well, it was a full fledged city! We drove around a little then decided to head for Alma. An hour later we were there and marveling at the small, quaint, sea town. We checked into the rv park, left the van and headed for Cape Enrage. It was a beautiful drive over a mt ... read more

Hi folks and welcome to a visit to "The Rocks" at Hopewell Cape not far from Fundy National Park ....it has likely been twenty years since we last visited this beautiful spot on the Bay of Fundy ...and...WOW what a surprise . In the past we would drive up and park and head to the observation area and if the tide was out we would scamper down the stairs to the water's edge and frolic in and about the rocks. Well much has changed ...three large parking areas and and a gate where we had to pay to play amongst the "Rocks" and then we came face to face with a huge gift shop and restaurant ............and who can resist the aroma of freshly cooked bacon and eggs.(not Roger & Lorieta)...so after a hearty breakfast and ... read more

Bay of Fundy and Hopewell Rocks has 45 foot tides. It is incredible. There's so much history here, whalers, Acadians, Dutch, Basque,English, German. One town might be all German names and the next was settled by Scotsmen. Lunnenburg has a monument to the "Men who go down to the sea in ships." In 1926-27 this tiny village lost over 200 men and boys to storms at sea.... read more

So as Penny had hurt her left calf whilst at Nelson & Karens place she could not go travelling to Sth America; India & Africa. It was almost 3 weeks were she could not walk so therefore there was no way that she could carry her backpack & go trekking around the world. So as an alternative, we bought a Ford Explorer 4WD and decided to drive to the east coast of Canada then out to the west where we will finally settle down in Vancouver. So on the 25th August we drove from Toronto where Scotts parents live to Montreal where his Teta Fanny & Uncle Johnny live. Teta by the way means Aunty in Slovenian. So we stayed one night, we really enjoyed our stay, it is always nice spending time with family members ... read more

I'm scribbling some notes on the past few days in the early morning hours as I wait for the sun to heat things up and dry out my tent here at Five Islands park. I left Bryan a few days ago in Bouctouche NB then I continued on to Moncton. It was great to have company for the week, but also I enjoy riding alone, so that I may go at my own pace and not feel guilty about stopping at a chip truck in front of one of the fittest 55yr olds i've ever met. I wish Bryan all the best as he ventures now around PEI and probably has about 2 weeks before finally ending his journey at Cape Spear (most eastern point). Two nights ago I enjoyed the hospitality of Sophie in Moncton. ... read more

We awoke this morning in St. Martins, New Brunswick to a cool and foggy day. It was 62 degrees at 8:00 am and little did we know that the mercury would rise no higher today. Tim and Lynn really wanted to see the sunrise here so Tim set his phone alarm to go off at 5:20 am. He actually got up three different times waiting and watching for the sun but the fog was just too dense so they didn’t get to see it. There were only two showers on each side so we girls had to rotate in and out but we all eventually had our turn. After her shower, Heidi put on a hot pot of coffee while Jason gathered all the trash, they are really getting into this camping thing ! We were ... read more

Day 18, Thursday Yesterday's favorable weather forecast held overnight so by 11 I was riding south toward Fundy National Park. I took the shore road #915 into Alma. It got cold along the water. I'm thinking that even in the dead of summer when that cold ocean water come in it must really cool things down in this area. I stopped at a bake shop in Alma for a cookie before heading into the park. There is a booth where you pay your entry toll but there is also a lane that passes right on by. I saw lots of cars zooming right past but I did'nt know if they perhaps had a season pass or what the deal was. I got to the booth and asked if I paid an entry fee if I was ... read more

After a relatively early morning (9.00am Ha Ha) we set off for Fredericton, the Capital of New Brunswick. New Brunswick has a number of tourist routes including the River Valley drive. It was full of the yellow, red and green leaves that made up the fall colours. Along the way we stopped in at the town of Grand Falls in which the centrepiece of downtown are the falls themselves. In our travels the falls are usually a little way out of town, so this was a touch unusual. WE eventually arrived out our host’s place for the night. Dom and a very pregnant Nancy were lovely people and Dom gave us a brief night tour of downtown Fredericton. It was very quiet at night, but the nice old buildings under the lights created a charming atmosphere. ... read more

When we left Quebec we were headed to Fundy Nat'l Park in New Brunswick. At Hartland we took a detour to see the longest covered Bridge at 1,282 ft long. We took a few pictures, but it was being worked on so it was closed. We passed a few more covered bridges on the way to Woodstock, where we decided to camp for the night. When we woke, we were over looking a nice river right by an old bridge....the kids took some time inthe morning to play at the park and pick so wild apples. After breakfast we drove on to Saint John, New Brunswick's biggest city at the mouth of the Saint John River. There we saw the Reversing Falls Rapids.....but we weren't there at the best time so - it only kinda' looked ... read more
