I ‘toad’ you I saw something
We thought this was a rock until we got closer. Right in the middle of the roadway. We woke up from a great sleep. We had our showers in the shower/washroom pavilion and it felt like heaven; especially for Shelley as she’s been using the little shower stall here in the RV - which is fine - but NOT as roomy as the shower this morning. And talk about water pressure! Lol.
After that we had some breakfast, simple toast with peanut butter and coffee/tea. Then out for a little stroll. We walked to the Amphitheatre near our campsite as the path there leads down and to the road where we follow it along to the Salt Water Pool.
On the roadway we saw what we thought was a rock in the middle but turned out it was a toad! It was so big. It made me remember the times as a kid in Terrace, British Columbia when I was playing with my cousin Arthur and we could spend a long afternoon catching frogs and bringing them home to play with.
The Salt Water Pool is closed right now because it’s off season, but it sure looked like it would be a popular spot for folks to refresh themselves on a hot day.
From
there, we walked out onto the beach / shoreline and you can see from the photos how stunning it was.
We came back towards the campsite where I had a little nap (two hours in the bunk above the driver’s area - secret space of snoozeable comfort). When I woke up, Shelley was excited to show me the view she found.
She guided me to the end of our campsite to a little house structure, and then I saw that it was a pro shop!! There was a golf course here. Unbelievable. A little nine-hole course. The park attendant inside explained that the course was designed by Stanley Thompson. I had to look him up.

Shelley said that I should play a round of golf. So, I went back to the RV, and dressed appropriately for golf. Came back, paid the $12.00 bucks for the round, along with a cart and golf club rentals-and set out.
The 1st tee - I had been eleven years since I hit a golf ball
on a golf course. That was with Dad in Indio, California. So, I tee’d up and hit my first ball. It was a good hit, but none of us had eyes on the damn thing - got lost in the clouds. I knew it was a good hit though. So, I loaded the tee with a second ball, and this is the shot you can see in the video. Beautiful. The parks lady said, “That’s a pretty damn fine shot for someone who hasn’t golfed in eleven years!”
Shelley went back to the RV and I continued on with my golf game. Challenging it was. I was so rusty, but the course was beautiful. No one in front of me, no one behind me. There was someone playing the 8th hole when I was starting my 2nd hole, but other than that, I never saw anyone else. It was like having the course to myself. Unreal.
Finishing golf, I came back to my Advil; I mean the RV, and we had some supper. Ziti with wine. We finished watching “Stillwater” (Shelley just said, “yes, that was a two-night movie - that was a looooooong movie”).
Then it was time for bed, and we had a great day behind us.
