Totem in Duncan, BC
Called "cedar man, cedar woman" Yesterday I visited Duncan, the city of totem poles as it calls itself. Then I drove inland to Cowichan Lake. While the hills along the way show the effects of ancient and modern clearcuts of timber, it's still a beautiful place. I drove up the south side of the lake to Gordon Bay Provincial Park, which is lovely. A great campground, a beautiful beach and hiking trails. Molly and I walked a bit west of the main beach and came upon a lovely secluded stretch of coarse sand where I could let her swim and play without her leash on. Ah, freedom!
Today we are in Nanaimo, and will be heading north then west to cross Vancouver Island to visit the Pacific Rim. We will have no internet access for a few days. I'll be back in touch on Saturday.
