It's about 4 pm and we are here at the Vancouver airport, waiting for our adventure to begin. It has been a bit of a rocky start! At about 1:30 this afternoon we got a text and an email from British Airways advising us that our flight to London, scheduled to leave at 8:20 pm tonight, was rescheduled to 2 pm tomorrow. WTF! Can you believe it?? We would have missed our connection to Istanbul tomorrow, our (paid for) night at the hotel, the tour we had booked our first day in Istanbul, etc. We were a bit panicked, and immediately called our travel agent, who managed to get us on an earlier flight to London, leaving at 5:55 pm. So that means a longer layover in London (around 6 hours), but at least we'll make our connecting flight to Istanbul. Maybe we can find a lounge in London we can pay to stay in. Luckily we were ready to leave several hours earlier than planned, and our neighbour Cathy was able to drive us to the airport early.
It will be so nice to be on the plane and have our trip underway. The adventure begins!
