Off on Another Adventure

Well, here we go again, off on another adventure. This will be a camping road trip, starting in Pitt Meadows and heading south through Washington, Oregon, California and points in the southwest USA as yet unnamed. Wherever the good weather, good hiking, good rocks and good photography take us. Visiting family along the way.

It took a while getting organized this time, mostly because the vehicle we thought we rented was not what we expected. It was a brand new truck camper, but the camper didn't have one cupboard. Not one for storing clothes, not one for storing non-refrigerated food, and not one for storing anything. Plus no bathroom sink. It was totally stripped down inside to nothing but space. We (well mostly me - Kayla) decided we could not live like that for 7 weeks. So the rental agency offered us the only other vehicle available - a 33' motorhome. Now that's more like it! Air conditioning, special shower stall, microwave/convection oven, generator.

Space for everything and then some. Space for the folding bikes, the BBQ, our backpacks, and a whole boatload of food moved from our cupboards at home and into the camper. We just hope that the US Customs officials don't take all our food away. Frozen steaks, salmon filets, chicken breasts, pork chops, pre-made (by me) hamburger patties, not to mention the fruit & vegetables we are taking along. Keep your fingers crossed for a friendly border crossing.

So after filling up with almost $250 for gas (ouch!), we head off tomorrow morning, aiming for somewhere in Eastern Washington, maybe Richland. Eventually arriving at Lake Tahoe for Labour Day Weekend, where we will visit and hike with cousin Ron and his wife Carol. Finally, we are both going to be in the same place at the same time, after a few years trying to get together. Should be fun.

Then we all will head for a week of hiking and enjoying Yosemite National Park.
