Well, here we go again. Botswana and Namibia 2012. Last trip we were not able to upload any photos along the way, so for those of you that haven't seen those yet, they are located on Kayla's Flickr page at the following link:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/kaylastevenson/sets/72157627731001908/ For this trip, we will likely run into the same problem, and what you will receive is just a quick blog about where we are and what we're doing, followed by photos later this summer. Maybe a photo or two, maybe not.
This trip is all about the desert. First a mobile camping safari into the Central Kalahari Desert in Botswana with Penduka Safaris (
http://www.pendukasafaris.com/), and then a photography safari in Namibia with photographer Jim Zuckerman (
http://www.jimzuckerman.com/). Check out his website to see the kinds of things we will be photographing on his trip. Kayla is very excited. And Richard expects to see some rocks as usual, but will also be exercising his newly-expanded geological knowledge to relate to the geological features we will see.
Although we are expecting lots of sun (which we haven't been having much of this spring here in Pitt Meadows), it will be somewhat cooler than on previous trips,
mostly in the 20's and 30's. That's 70's, 80's and 90's for those in the US. This time of year in Botswana and Namibia means ultra dry and cooler evenings than during the months of September and October.
First off, we will stop in London to pay a brief visit to Jonathan and his parents. It will be great to see them again, if only for a quick visit. Then it's off to Maun for the second leg of our journey.
We have added a few of you to our subscriber list, thinking you might like to get this blog. If you don't want to receive it, just unsubscribe.
