We're still a couple of weeks away from leaving on our
4 Corners & More trip to celebrate Kayla's retirement. She still has five more days of work, so the final countdown is on. We've rented a camper truck, our current favourite mode of travel for road trips. Got the packing list out. Still in the middle of doing all the Internet searching for the places we want to visit, downloading maps and local hiking & biking recommendations, and reading other people's blogs.
This is a trip about rocks, hiking, biking, photography and avoiding big cities. The 4 Corners area is where Utah, Colorado, Arizona & New Mexico all come together - thus the name of our trip.
First we'll head west from Pitt Meadows to Osoyoos, then south across the border towards Idaho, Montana and into Wyoming towards Red Lodge where Richard says there are 3 billion year old rocks he wants to see. Then to Yellowstone and Grand Teton Parks before heading on down to Utah. There we will zig zag across the state as much as we can, avoiding Salt Lake City, following the good weather and aiming for all the beautiful national parks of Utah. And if the weather is pleasant and not too hot, we'll head further south into Arizona and the Grand Canyon, and further south to see the desert cacti if weather permits. A stop in Las Vegas to see all the amazing sights and hopefully a show or two, definitely Cirque du Soleil. From there we're not sure, but the plan the whole way is to avoid the populated areas if at all possible, except for Las Vegas, and follow the secondary roads through small towns.
So that's it - our first blog.

4 Corners
Ah the life of retirees! Just one holiday after another. I look forward to reading your blog and following the trip on the map. Certainly with a camper you can bring home lots of souvenirs, AKA rocks. Joyce
