Hello, hello! We are working very hard, continuously, to obtain our experiential degree of leisure arts and travel. It’s a dirty job but someone’s gotta do it! So, we left off at Revelstoke. We said good bye to Loreli and Brant and continued our journey back down the #23 south back to the Ferry crossing, connected to Hwy #6 west and crossed Lower Arrow Lake via another ferry from Fauqier to Needles. Our campsite was again quiet at McDonald Creek Provincial Park. Wow. Spectacular view with the lake and mountains. Lots of beautiful cedar trees in this part of the country. Beautiful western red cedar. The air was nice and fresh in the morning and we strolled along the deserted beach, the water was like glass, good for photos. We could see patches of tree removal ... read more

We hooked up with Daragh and Cass (friends from MEC), loaded the car up and hit the road for Skaha, a climbing area inland BC near Penticton. Daragh and Cass supplied ample tunes for the trip, which, along with good conversation made the five-hour trip go pretty quickly. The tunes were a welcome relief from the handful of CDs I had bought from the thrift store (that’s what they call op shops over here). We set up home at a campground right on Lake Skaha on Friday night, and woke Saturday morning to a new scene. I love arriving at places in the dark and have the sunlight reveal everything the next day. The scenery was so different from Vancouver -a lot more arid, with greys and browns dominating the flora rather than lush greens. I ... read more

Sun Sept 16: Camped near Penticton, BC at Twin Lakes Golf and RV Park. It’s at a high enough elevation that my ears pop 3 times driving up from the valley. Full hookup $28. Mon Sept 17: George golfed. Dinner in town at Saigon on Main. We ordered the combination for two, as it was our first time eating at a Vietnamese restaurant. This way we could try a variety of dishes. I also ordered the hot and sour soup, as I’m still looking for the perfect combination (since my favorite place closed). We both enjoyed the meal and would be repeat customers if we were in this area. Tues Sept 18: Drove further south to Osoyoos, BC. We’re less than 2 miles to Washington state, but I wanted to see this area before entering the ... read more

For many Canadians living in landlocked areas and not wanting to fly to foreign destinations, the vacation options are usually narrowed down into these three catagories: A. Flocking to nearest water source. Usually this is a murky algae-infested lake or pebbled ocean beach with the tide a kilometre out while youngsters bring out their bright yellow sand shovels and buckets. Canadians definitely enjoy their time on the beach Canadian style. Forget the parasols and suntanning lawn chaises. Its fold up lawn chairs with built in beer can holders all the way. It is slightly odd to see a bunch of people sitting up right in a chair with feet propped up on the 40L cooler (with rugged wheels for easier dragging). The upright suntanning position (as dictated by the chairs they bring to the beach) may ... read more

... read more

Today was Epic! Myself, Stacey and Andy departed from Kelowna at 7:15 AM on our way to Mt Baldy 2 hours later and we were on the hill. 60 cm of snow since the last day they were open and not a cloud in the sky, does life get any more perfect? I contest that it does not! I havn't ridden baldy for probably at least 8 years, but it all came flooding back. What a great mountain, amazing terrain. We rode all day in knee deep, probably didn't cross a track until noon! then still, very few. There was a small issue with me taking a wrong turn in search of untracked and getting ridiculously lost, but that's a story for another day. but man, what a day, definatly in the top 10 of my ... read more
