Well, it's been a bit too long since I've been able to update. I last left off talking about my experiences in the forests with deer and day trips to Campbell River. Alot has happened since then. I've been through Tofino, en route to Nanaimo, and then southbound to Victoria. From there I high-tailed it back across the interior of Bc to Nelson, my previous home. So that's where I am currently, but I've still much to report. I think I left on a cliff hanging note about my day trip to Campbell River. So I guess I'll start from there! The morning after the whole crazy deer experience, I woke up plenty early and proceeded to walk an hour and a half to the nearest bus stop which would bring me north to the town ... read more

Well folks we are home in Canada. What a trip!!! I loved every part of Vietnam and would go again in a second. A bit of an update from when we left Hoi An. After picking up our new clothes (which we love!!) we decided we must head for Hanoi and Halong Bay. Once again we chose to fly cause we were almost out of time..another 1 hour flight and we landed at the Hanoi airport. The mini bus to town left us close to where we wanted to stay and a short walk later we were having trouble finding a hotel with a room available. I stayed in the lobby of one hotel while Shelly and an Aussie girl went in search of a room. Our firdt night we spent at the Orchid Guesthouse, a ... read more

"For six miles a vein of the purest, most perfect crystal runs under Nelson." Bubbles, the matronly proprietor of Cannabis Culture, spoke through a window connecting the shop to the cafe. She was explaining the healing powers that draw the broken and infirm to Nelson. Heads nodded as if the connection between the alleged vein and the alleged healing powers was obvious. Last time my Braille watch stopped working," He stared at us through glass eyes that gave him a prophetic authority, The Blind-Seer of Thebes. Jim's cell phone rang. "Hey, come down here, there are a couple of Americans here." A few moments later we were joined by Chris, a former computer programmer ... read more

Nelson is the epitome of alternativeness - a mecca of craft stores, organic grocers and independent cafes amidst wafts of pot smoke. And, of course, dreadlocks and hippies galore :-). We've spent the last couple of days exploring this colourful little town, gorging on samples at farmer's markets, feasting on local cheese and eating out at some of the many fine cafes and restaurants tucked away in side streets. If you are ever in Nelson, may I heartily recommend 'Au Soleil Levant', a delicious French bakery, and the 'Garlic Clove' - if you like garlic in massive doses, that is . In between our frenzied bouts of eating, we explored the surrounding countryside, which is particularly beautiful at the moment thanks to the rich colours of fall, creating a visual smorgasbord of vivid reds, oranges ... read more
