Terry Fox memorial near Thunder Bay Well its been a while since my last post, I left Wawa on October 17 and had a nice drive looked at all the small towns on the shores of Lake Superior and then almost to Thunder Bay. Next day went to the Terry Fox memorial and lookout on outskirts of Thunder Bay and on to Fort Francis and spent the night on a small trail in the woods, very quiet and private. Boy are there ever a lot of lakes and trees in this part of the country. Visited Kenora on my way west, lovley town in a pretty setting, then on to Manitoba, went to Gimli home of a lot of people from Iceland very nice town but flat flat flat, holy cow I had no idea it could be this flat. Went to Riding Mountain National park and spent the night at Moon Lake had a great hike around lake, next day went to Brandon and south to Hyw #2 and west all the way to Saskatchewan through all the small towns on #13 to Alberta, part of the trip was 150km of gravel, not much traffic, wonder why. It was really great to see the landscape change

150 km of gravel from flat to great rolling hills as you go west, lovley little towns remote farms and huge ranches, what a great country we live in. Went to Writing on Stone Provincial Park in Alberta and had a wonderful time with a family from the Phillipenes who now live in Calgary. Ended this part of the trip in Cochrane where my friend Martin lives, have been on a long hike up something called Yamanuska, huge cliff, loose rock scree, and tremendous winds all in all very unnerving but fun. Went to the Banff Film Festival and saw some wonderful films all small low budget but very well done. Have been here for three weeks helping on Martin's house and will leave tomorrow for Montana big sky country, temperatures are about -10 with a bit of snow so should be fun, will try to update this more often.

Alberta, my home..
Wow, looks like you have been having a grand time. Having grown up in Alberta, I am a little nostalgic as you write about your time there. I spent many a summer in the rocky's, especially the Banff area. Hope you are out running the cold weather, it is descending here slowly but surely. Enjoy your adventures and keep writing!!
