UntitledNathalie Vallee We went to pick up Stacey's sister in Lethbridge, Alberta. I couldn't wait to see the rockies. But you couldn't really see them until about 1-2 hours away from them. It was really cool. I love the mountains. There are just so many of them. On the way to her Stacey's sister Mother-in-law's place, we stopped at the Frank Slide. In the beginning of the 1900s, a big part of a mountain fell on a village and covered it in rocks. Something like 70 people died. Then, we drove to Blairmore in the Crownest Pass, Alberta. We went to Stacey's sister's mother in law. There was a big get-together there in their family because of a "thunder in the Valley" firework in their hometown. They put on a firework show in the mountain. It ... read more

Hello all! ok. so this is my blog. Here is where I will document my extrodinary travels for all to read! basically its just a cop out so i dont have to send like 20 individual e-mails... although i probably will still end up doing that... at any rate, Jackie and I used this site last time we went to Europe, so why break tradition now. Well. as far as the travel plans go, I am leaving tomorrow. I am of course still not completley packed, although the small piles of various goodies lying around the living room are randomly making their way into my backpack. At the rate this is going, i should be finished about five minutes before I leave tomorrow. I am all about the timing. I am currently dreading the plane ride ... read more

It was a bad week for me because of injury and illness! While climbing a small mountain on the Gulf of Mexico coast, a loose boulder fell onto my hand. Two days later we arrived in Durango where Graciela came with me to get it checked out at the hospital. I got an x-ray and it turned out my thumb was fractured and now I have to wear a splint. The same night, I was really sick with Montezuma’s Revenge. It was bad for two days so we got the neighbourhood doctor to take a look. She prescribed a drug to keep me from throwing up, and Carmen gave it to me by needle in the rear end. It seemed to work and I got better. We went with Paco, Graciela, Gerardo, Carolina, Chiznel, Sandra ... read more

This is the first blog page of our Central America trip that hopefully will start at the end of this month - actually just a test to make sure we remember how to successfully do the text and photo entries! As you can see by this picture only a few kilometres from home, we don't have to travel far to find nice scenery. On our trip I'm sure we'll find places and meet people that will warrant some good photos, and we hope we'll be able to post some of them here to help you visualize some of our experiences! If you would like to see one of our other trips that was blogged, you can check out travelblog.org/bloggers/erikajane. Grant... read more

We are currently in the middle of packing up our apartment so we can move our stuff to Calgary where it will reside in Darren and Jamie's basement until we need it again (thanks for letting us do that by the way!). For those of you who know me best you know about my procrastination hence adding an entry in the travel blog! So far packing is going alright, it would be going better if Dave would listen to all the things I say not just some of them! Both Dave and I have done some travelling over the past 6 months, I went to Africa in September while Dave has been working for a harvesting crew and has been in the States since May. We thought we'd add some pictures of both of our travels. ... read more

Motorhome News from North America 12. 14th May - 25th May 2006 Vancouver and over the Rocky Mountains Hi there, you guys. We can only guess what George Vancouver might have said when he arrived here in the city that bears his name. “Blust me,” he say, “Tha’s a grit ole harbour,” is possibly quite close to the mark. George hailed from Kings Lynn, Norfolk, England, as many of you will know. We, too, came from Norfolk back in 1993 and loved it - and we wanted another look at this magnetic city. Our energetic hosts, Cathy and Bill, live in North Vancouver with their equally energetic children, Andrew and Annie, who were making the most of summer temperatures to develop their rowing and kayaking skills on Deep Cove after school the evening we arrived. This ... read more

Our journey from Koh Lanta to Bangkok felt like absolute luxury. There were beds with pillows and blankets on the train. I was situated beside a local family from Bangkok on the train and I enjoyed helping their five-year-old practice her English! So cute! When we arrived in Bangkok, we bumped into Mani, one of our friends from Koh Lanta, and found accommodations with her. We found a simple, but clean little guest house away from the noise and chaos of Bangkok! We spent the last three days of our trip shopping and sightseeing. We spent the first part of the first day shopping on Kao San Road and then we headed by sky train to MBK (the famous shopping centre). MBK was absolutely huge. I really love shopping but I couldn't even handle it! There ... read more

Earlier this week we did some last minute shopping for this trip and were reminded of how cheap we are - instead of buying new shoes we just bought some padded inserts for our old ones, and instead of buying some top-quality underwear we got 5 for 10 bucks at Sears. We did splurge on Sarah's money belt, mostly because I don't feel like hauling yet another bulky passport around with me everywhere I go. We also splurged on some Canadian Flag patches for our giant knapsacks - basically, people are going to know we are foreign by the fact that we are carrying around a backpack the size of a 3rd grader, so we may as well make it clear that we are Canadian. Yay Canada. Sadly, we won't be here to celebrate Canada Day. ... read more
