Now Banff is an amazing little town with so much beauty, but this wasnt enough for me.... i was getting itchy feet and wanted to do some more exploring. So Bianca and I convinced a friend of ours Haydn (who had just busted his ankle boarding and was bored of sitting round) To drive us to a little town three hours away called Jasper. The drive there is rated as one of the top ten drives in the world... so we were all really excited.... but just our luck- the day we left it was cloudy, misty and snowing... ah great we wont see much, oh well the misty atmosphere was actually quite enchanting. We could see the start of mountains... just not the top. The road was covered in snow and we were reduced t 40kms/hr quite a few times. Then as we came over a rise we could see a little red car pulled off to the side, and as we got closer the driver jumped out and waved us down. So we pulled over only to find out that he had slid off the road and was stuck in a ditch. We tried to push him out,
"the girls"
This is Stacy, Bi and I... Sexy times but with Haydn's ankle and the freakin blizzard we had stopped in it wasnt very succesful. We then tied some rope to his car and pulled him out that way. Haydn then jumped out to help push as did Bianca and just as she stepped ut the car, some turkey driving at like 80 kms ran straight up ur ass. Bianca was flung into a snow bank, i was whipped into the chair infront and Haydn's car T-Boned the little red car we were helping :-( It was so crazy... Nooone was seriously injured which was lucky, but Haydn's car was smashed in and his back window was broken...... So yep we had a Bloody FREEZING!!!!! car trip home. We had to drive slow cause of the conditions, so 4 hourslater we finally arrive back in Banff... I've never been so glad to be hme in my life. We all went out for dinner and ate like kings... Olives.... Coconut prawns.... steak.... wine....martinis it was great!!!!!
But now the original problem rose back up...... I WANNA GO ON A ROAD TRIP!!!!!!!! So Bianca and I did Jasper... Take Two! This time we went with a tour company, took a
Huge mountains
Everywher you look there is massive bloody mountains friend of ours Stacey with us and organised a day of boarding at the near by ski hill in Jasper called Marmont Basin. So we set out at 9am.... this time the weather was on our side and the driver was very experienced. All i can say on the drive is WOW!!!! This was so aazing... i can see why its rated so highly... endless mountains... frozen lakes.... glaciers... icefields, ice walls. Imagine anything big and white, ande well i saw it :-) We had lots of cool little stops and photo ops. We stopped at the cutest little lodge for lunch where we could walk round and take in the 360 degree view. And inside it had stuffed animals mounted all over the walls... it was great! We arrived at Jasper about 4.30 and had the evening to do what we wanted... we were staying at the Fairmont park lodge which is a little out of town, so we wined and dined like the rich, then decided to go the hot tub and have asoak... the only problem was that none of us had our swimmers...... But never fear the hotel sold disposable swimmers for $10 They tell you
Hungry Anyone?
This is the little shack we had the most delicious lunch at... mmmm mushroom and goats cheese burger they're good for 4 swims??????They were the ugliest things ever... it was hilarious :-) We then got an earlyish night for riding tomorrow.
Marmont was a quiet little hill... almost just for the locals... but it was awesome, wide open runs... lotsa bowls and a lift system that seemed to get you all over the mountain with little planning or effort :-) A good day was had by all till right at the end when Stacey flew over a little jump and landed in the trees face down with the only thing stopping her going any further was to trees and her board. We got ski patrol over and Stace was stretchered down the hill and assesed down the bottom. They reluctantly let her on the bus and back to banff without a hospital visit. It was a quiet, reflective trip home. We got Stacey home safely and went home to bed.... Man this adventurous stuff sure was tiring :-)
Later my loved Peace to all of you xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo :-)
