Our final drive into Calgary was along a perfectly straight, seemingly uninterrupted highway through apparently endless fields of wheat and grain. I can clearly understand why Alberta is called the Bread Basket of Canada. We made it to our hotel in the early evening, and had a couple hours before I headed over to the airport to meet David, Katie, Alyssa, and Laura, whose flight from Newark had been delayed by thunderstorms. It was nearly 11:00pm Calgary time when they finally cleared Customs and Immigration, and they all looked very ready for bed.
