So Kate and I are finally leaving....in about half an hour actually so this will be quick. The last week in Banff has been great. We finnished up at Sunshine on Monday. Went up to watch the slush cup which was classic. Some great costumes and huge splashes. Then after all the punter went home we got to party. Sunshine put on a great night, we had a pig on the spit for dinner, it was so good. Spent Tuesday recovering then on Wednesday we went white water rafting on the Kiking Horse river. It was so much fun. Unfortunatly the river wasn't running very high, but was still managed to get wet from head to foot and get stuck on a rock. One of the highlights of this day was we saw a black bear ... read more

So last week I saw bears 5 times in 5days, once a lone Black bear, another time a lone grizzly, and the rest of the time it was mama Grizzly and her two cubs... such amazing animals, and pretty chilled out compared to all the nasty stories I'd heard, they didn't even seem to mind when me and Wade were this close to them - sooo cool! there are people who've lived here for 5 years and havn't seen a bear once so we're pretty lucky. Since my last blog I've just pretty much been working and partying, and syching myself back up for the semi-retired life... it was a long weekend last weekend so me, Kim, Paul and Jake went on a roady up to Jasper. was great to get out and about, I havn't ... read more

This is my first Travel Blog page so please excuses spelling mistakes, grammar mistakes and any other kind of mistake that will appear. This is my third time righting this little blog, there are a number of excuses one being this computer I'm on has really high virus protection on it and the other being that some times I can just be an idiot. So basically my last two attempts at a journal covered the highlights and lowlights of Banff. They where a bit more detailed than this one is going to be. I have about 10 days left in Banff and only 6 more days at work so I'm really starting to look forward to traveling with Kate Lacey. But the purpose of this Journal was to talk out the last 7 long but great ... read more

Well Dan's been gone for a few weeks now, he's off down in Costa Rica soaking up the sun and enjoying the surf while I'm left back here at the coalface trying to save up and visit him. Check out his blog in the Costa Rica section to see what he's been up to. Meanwhile, the weather's been warming up here, and like Dan said in the last blog I finally got a good electrical job for a little local company in Banff which is awesome. apart from that I have to get up early now, and think about stuff during the day, and rip the crap out of my poor hands that haven't even seen tools for over a year now... great to have some money coming in again though, times were getting tough there ... read more

Sunday,,, I just realized that it's been already three weeks since we las had snow,,,,, and I'm depressed : I don't want to go to the backcountry because of warm temperature these few days,,, I have to work from 5p.m. today,,, So, today is the day for a leisurely cycle ride!! "If you feel depressed" "Go for a hike up a mountain" it's a place that makes you feel Great! "If you feel irritable" "Go near to a waterfront" it's a place that makes you feel calm! Let's go to a waterfront! I decided to go to Bow Falls. From one end of Banff to another, but if you ride on a bicycle, you can get to the Falls in about twenty minutes at a leisurely pace. I've not been there since ... read more

Beer is,, Ale. Whiskey is,, single malt. My favorite one is 'MORTLACK'. Sake(Japanese Rice Wine)is,, Junmai-syu or pure sake before being bottled. I might like taste of yeast, because I LOVE bakery as well^_^. But recently I feel that my favorite choice with snacks; like Nachos or Poutine,, is Lager Beer!! 'Lager' Beer is the most popular drink in Canada?? Draft Kokanee Gold is so yummmmmy-! Regarding Wine, I've never tried Canadian Wine except Ice Wine, when I lived in Japan. However, it seems there are quite nice wines here in Canada. I wanna begin trying good value, quality and various wines. Which alcoholic drink has the most varieties? Whiskey is the drink I most associate with it's origin and strength of feeling. The best way to experience it is in its native land. While I ... read more

This blog is almost a month out of date now but I thought we still better put it in there. Basically after we said our goodbyes to Takako and Taeko, we drove up to Lake Louise for some snowboarding, and picked up a couple of Hitch-hikers on the way. A couple of Kiwi boys just like us, and after a good day with them up the hill, we went back to their place for a beer, and ended staying for a week. They had jobs but weren't starting for another couple of weeks so it was pretty much Saturday night, every night the whole time we were there. So after a crazy week of craziness with crazy Joel and crazy Bugz we moved out to crazy Canmore, but we'll tell you all about that in the ... read more

Great trip. We arrived a day before our meeting and rented a car, the rest was history. We drove to an area called "Highwood Pass" and ascended til we saw snow. It was in the 90's in NY, high 60's in Calgary, now snow. Strange. The following day we had our meeting and we were gone. Easy trip.... read more
