Day 4 Great Falls, MT to Banff, Canada

Additional maps: Day 4 Great Falls to Banff, Alberta, Canada

Okay, so we lied. Yesterday was not the last of the long days on the road. We spent the night at Dick's RV Park in Great Falls, MT. It was absolutely wonderful, with all the hook ups, plus TV and Internet, and half the price that KOA was charging. First thing in the morning, we went to the local grocery store and picked up needed supplies, topped off the gas, then hit the road. Problem was, we headed off in the wrong direction on the interstate. Upon realizing our error, we exited and discovered we would not be able to re-enter the highway until they finished the paving in front of the ramp. 15 minutes later, after the fastest paving job we've ever seen, we were allowed up the ramp on 15 north. The trip to the Canadian border was totally uneventful, with more flat , uninhabited, boring scenery. About 15 minutes south of the border crossing, we remembered that we had a lot of fruit in the fridge. As we were told that fruit was not allowed across, we proceeded to devour the apples and bananas. Ray said his potassium has never been higher, and will not have leg cramps for at least 4 years. Upon reaching the border we discovered that the Canadian government must be experiencing a budget sequestration as the line to cross was at least 25 cars long and only 1 lane open. When we finally reached the agent, we were wisked through with no problems. Shortly after clearing customs, as we drove up the interstate we noticed blue flashing lights rapidly approaching our caravan. The gendarme pulled over the last RV, which happened to be Bud and Jan. We knew it couldn't be for us as we had eaten all the evidence. Turned out they thought because all our RV's were identical, that we were transporting rather than renting, and therefore owed a Canadian tariff. After Bud explained we were renting, we were on our way. The remainder of the ride was uneventful, with the exception of a 25 minutes delay in Calgary due to an accident and rush hour traffic. We arrived in Banff at 6:30, and settled into our beautiful campsite at Tunnel Mountain campground. After the obligatory cocktail hour, and being totally overserved, we proceeded to complete today's blog, and hopefully to prepare dinner. I am not responsible for any spelling errors today. PS: If the RV's is rocking tonight, it isn't from the wind. Miles today - 417 Total to date 1551
