PAIT = Praise Allah It's Thursday (the middle eastern version of TGIF).

This will be rather short as my life has been work, commute, grocery shopping. Last night was a good night at soccer. I seriously love the girls that we play with. Some of them can be a little whiny, which makes wonder how anyone can coach high school girls! But they're all fun and they've learned a lot since I started playing with them about a month ago. Our season starts in September and we are close to ready. We've had the assistant coach us the last two weeks while our regular coach is on holiday. Yesterday, he had us doing passing drills and play a scrimmage which focused on passing, and everyone has obviously improved. Each time he has us do this competitive race thing with two teams where we do push ups (YUCK!), sprints, jumping jacks and dribbling. Part of the reason I'm glad to return to actual training instead of straight games - it gets us all thinking as a team.

Ok, enough soccer. Tomorrow is my housewarming party and I going to finally try my hand at cooking. I truly hope that my stove works! I've decided to go southern: sweet potato casserole, fried okra (okra, one of my favorite veggies, is all over the place here!), chicken and dumplings, biscuits, maybe some cajun chicken, and maybe spinach dip. Any other suggestions? Something that everyone will like but that is not too difficult to make (no gumbo!). Carrot cake for dessert.

For my friend tribute, I've selected Loree. She is one of the first people I met when I moved to Ventura, though our way of meeting was through some strange circumstances! As a female engineer from another firm, from the midwest, down to earth and just naturally beautiful, I knew that she and I should be friends. I love her memory to me in my photo book gift, about one of the notorious nights early in our friendship. She couldn't have summed it up better: even though we were in a strange situation, our friendship was, and always will be, strong. Everything worked out for the best for both of us, and we've been through it all together. Girls trip to Chicago, work, hikes, breakups, camping, wine tasting, volleyball, YMF, your beautiful wedding, game nights (especially SceneIt or gypsy rascal), watching movies and more! I am always happy to dogsit or babysit just to be part of your lives and to help you in any way I can. I feel privileged that you guys have allowed me into your lives and I love you and miss you all!
