Tuesday: John was up early for a last walk around the Beyoglu area. He took the Tunel tram down to the Galata Bridge and visited the famous baklava bakery and restaurant, Karaköy Güllüoğlu, for a cup of tea and a pistachio baklava. Terrific. Then walked along the waterfront, took a few pictures of Topkapi, the New Mosque, Suleymane Mosque and the active waterfront. Then back to the Tunel, up the hill and hoofed it to the hotel. After breakfast we organized our suitcases for the trip back to the States and got everything downstairs for checkout.
Off to the airport…and a wonderful flight home. Lots of levels of security (warming to us) and extremely thorough. We felt checked and checked in. Flight was easy and non-eventful, as was the transfer to our home.

We love every part of travel, from dreaming to research to getting there to being there to returning and especially telling stories about our travel. This blog is a chance to tell the story while its happening.... full info
