So we've finally made it, landed in Istanbul via Bali (12 days) & a five hour layover in KL.

Being back in Turkey brings back some old memories for me & I think Michelle is a little surprised (pleasantly) by what we've seen so far.

As I mentioned in our profile, we hope, that as you follow our journey we can inspire you or, refresh some long past memories. Either way enjoy.

It's been only two days & Michelle's been pretty sick with the flu.

Looks like we'll stay for four nights in Istanbul and then head south to Canakkale, a two hour fast ferry ride & then a five hour bus trip. This will bring us to a base to explore Gallipoli & Troy.

The weather has been amazingly fine. Mid to high teens during the day, but rather brisk once the sun goes down.

Haiga Sophia - Aya Sofya
Built in AD 537 as the greatest Church in Christendom until the conquest in 1453, when it was converted into a mosque. In 1935 it was proclaimed a museum

Basilica Cistern
Built in AD 532, is 65m wide and 143m long & its roof is supported by 336 columns. It once held 80,000 cubic metres of water.

Blue Mosque
Is still used as a practising mosque. On special events over 7000 whorshipers can congregate to pray

Over 2m tall & over 6m in circumference, this vase is carved out of one piece of marble
