Wed 7th of August 2013 - Erzurum to Hopa on the Black sea coast The car still had the problem starting first thing in the morning, so I decided to return to the car workshop to seek help from my friend Veysel the mechanic. Because I could not explain the problem to him in Turkish, I took a video of the ignition problem and showed him. His diagnosis was that it is a electrical problem and took the car to the auto electrician. This man quickly checked the glow plugs and found only 1 in 5 of the glow plugs was working. So the failed glow plugs were replaced and then I bid them farewell as I was about to leave Erzurum. I headed towards the seaside town of Hopa and arrived at around 6pm. So ... read more

19th sat on our way to croatia we stopped in a small town called Mostar which was the worst bomb place to see in this area. They worked out there was a bomb every 49 seconds for two whole years, which is crazy. There are so many bombed buildings and we went to the old bridge over the neretva river which the locals jump off its 20m high and the water is only 5m deep, dangerous. Then we walked up to the old bank building where they snippered the civilians, so the whole that you see behind me in the photo is where they shot out of, and where the junkies hang out at night, so there were a few dodge characters hangn round. Next off to Dubrovnik yay party party.... read more

After my two days in Batum, I crossed the border from Sarp. The taxi drivers on the Turkish side annoyed me before by asking more money they should so this time I made sure about the money I should pay. But this time they tricked me once more by squeezing me in a taxi full of people. There are some places in earth which you should never ever take a taxi and Turksh side of Sarp border is definetely one of them. Choose minibusses in the border or take a bus from Batumi bus terminal which take you to the Turkish towns if you ever be there. The destination I was going was Macahel which means wristle-hand in Georgian. This is a place located in Turkish-Georgian border with its habitatants all Georgians. The region is actually ... read more

Tag 37 bis 49, 8.750 km von Galway Wir sind in Asien! Juhu!

1994'te tanististik, o anda ilk kez Barhala gittim, 97'de onun evinde kaldim ve ondan itibaren her sene giderim, son seneler Ramazan Bayramda.... read more

The church is one of the best kept in the region, was built in the 10th century as a monastry dedicated to John the Baptist at that time Barhal was a part of Georgia and probably was a donation from the royal family. the Church became mosque in the late 18th century during the time of the Sultan Abdül-Hamid the 1st, the firman of the event is in the muhtarlik, they still call it "Kilise" There are some stones with sculptures in the façade, tunels contecting to the other side of the mountains and we all think that arround it there must be a lot of tresures digged.
