Safe in Selcuk

We have arrived safely in Selcuk.

The first night in Istanbul we had a few beers in Just Bar and at in Oceans 11. In the mornng we went to the Harley dealership where we discovered the prices of new Harleys in Turkey - unaffordable - even with the tax break. Second hand remains possible though, naturally, the dealerr was not so keen.

We spent a very pleasant afternoon with Hassan - he will send us a carpet in Selcuk when we have an address. We spent another pleasant evening but did not eat in Oceans 11 as the portions are so huge.

Took the bus to Izmir yesterday, travelling with Varan. We left Istanbul at 09:30, crossed the Marmara by ferry and arrived in Izmir at 18:30. We were offered drinks about every hour - better service than the plane. Aso extremely good value foodwhen we stopped cheese toast and ayran for 5 lira.

We wandered round this morning and this afternoon we were shown some houses. One, high upon Zafer, we like a lot. It's large, liveable and needs some work. It also has a phenomenal view.and two party terraces. The price is reasonable but we honestly have no idea what it would cost to restore and there are quantities of asbestos which would need to be removed.

glad y'all are safe....looking forward to pics. i probably will never get to that part of the world, so i do enjoy your pics!!!! i bet the harleys are expensive!!!!
