Another boring day traveling today. We re-packed our bags - not that there was much to re-pack - it was more a case of deciding to leave some warm and wet weather clothing and some Route 66 travel guides behind. We were picked up by mini-cab just before 1.00pm and dropped off at Terminal 2 by about 1.30pm. That was the quick bit!! Kath had checked us in on-line so first we waited in the queue to drop our bags off - well, we thought it was the bag drop queue!! It turned out we had walked straight past the bag drop counters and we were actually in the check-in line. D'oh! Fortunately we realised this before we got all the way to the head of the queue!!! We transferred over to the bag drop counters ... read more

Bodrum is a lovely coastal city. All the buildings are painted white and is has a lovely beach. This was blob out time for us as we had been on the road for 4 weeks without too much in the way of a break We also caught up with Adem and Terry over a meal and met Adem's brother Murrat and his partner from New Zealand Just a few photo's here... read more

We left Venice at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, September 27th. It was a beautiful and very warm day. Passengers lined the upper railings to say goodbye. The slow cruise to the sea took a serpentine route almost through the middle of the city. It wound through fairly narrow waterways giving us a close and final view of Venice, perhaps the most beautiful city in the world made by man. After an hour we were free of the narrow channels and on our way into the open sea. That evening we had our first formal dinner at the nine o'clock sitting. We sit at a table for ten with three other couples... all very nice folks. There was lots of conversation back and forth. The dinner was fantastic! Dinner finished around 11:30 pm and we took a ... read more

Yanlış bir kayıt ,yurda dönerken siz... read more

Ben tarif ettikleri gibi, Turg... read more

Bodrum or the ancient city of Halicarnassus, was settled in 7 BC. The ruins of the mausoleum of Mausolus, built between 353 and 350 BC, one of the seven ancient wonders can be found there. Some might consider the visit (and 8 lira entry fee - unless one chooses to sneak past ticket officer man when he isn’t looking) to be disappointing however it definitely can give you a feeling of the grandiose nature of the mausoleum. Lunch is calamari, fish and fish kebab sticks. Yummy. Bodrum Castle, built by the Crusaders in the 15th Century AD is also worth the visit. The castle has an interesting museum of Underwater Archeology and spectacular views of the harbor. The pictures say it all why Bodrum is one of the more popular places in Europe and its not ... read more

The day of the flight we get our bid flu masks at the ready from Birmingham to Turkey, on meeting Oli & Maja we rock our masks and think we look pretty fly! The flight is fairly standard and we arrive to hot Turkey, just our transfer to go till we get to the Villa Louise in Calkan. We arrive at Villa Louise and it looks amazing, pool is nice and warm and the rooms are a great size. We kick back and shotgun our rooms! On to exploring the local town and it's many bars and resturants, on the first shop I go into the local shop owner starts speaking Turkish to me, apparently I look like a local Turk who goes by the name of Memet! And so the name sticks for the rest ... read more

4th - 11th July A lovely week chilling out in the sun with one of my besties! It had been my last day at work the day before and now I had two months of freedom before the big move to South Korea, so what better way to start than with a holiday. Our flight there was fine, my nerves were eased by a few ciders at the airport and on the plane. Saw a gorgeous sunset from the sky. We arrived at our accomodation, really late, it was a bit basic for Lou, but to me used to backpacking it was like a little slice of luxury. We sat and had a couple more drinks, enjoying the duty free booze we had bought at the airport. Our first few days were spent relaxing, we had ... read more

Wow! Made ıt to Turkey (and don't know where the comma ıs on thıs so bear wıth me!). Bodrum ıs an amazing place. Beautıful and carefree and not too expensive for a resort destinatıon. We decided to get a car today though and cancel our reservatıons the next 3 nıghts and then just drive north--not sure where we would end up. Well we went north for a few hrs to Epheseus (sp?) and saw the ruıns there whıch were not bad. Saw a few other nearby ruins (hell they are everywhere. random fields etc). It was a long borıng drıve though and wore us out. Hoped to get to Troy but not feeling that drive back so we turned around and came and got a hostel wıth no ac right ın the middle of all the ... read more

Monday 2nd March Waiting at Kos was made a little more interesting by various people coming to tell us about their marvelous appartments and leaving us their business cards. various ferries came and went to Piraeus and to the other small islands, we walked , read and dozed untill finally we were allowed to embark, not many people and only room for one car, luckily there was only one car, ours! After the luxurious accomodation I had previously enjoyed, this was not in the same league, but it was almost the same price. On board I met Gerti. a dutch lady, who was renewing her visa and was thrilled to have found a shop open where she had bought 7 or 8 English Homes and Garden type magazines, her Turkish husband was a ' nostalgic' singer ... read more
