Wednesday was burned entirely on travel. We woke up and arrived in London at 11 am. The *G lounge there had showers, so we refreshed ourselves. It also had some really fresh and delicious Indian and British breakfast buffet items.
We headed over to our gate around 1:15 and found they had two new business class seats for us. Turns out they oversold economy and started moving up Gold members. The bad news was that just outside the gate window, we could see several people on the Tarmac working on one of the engines. After the first hour of delay, they started fetching a new plane, which of course took another hour. We even had to bus over to another terminal. All in all we were about 2.5 hours delayed.
Row 2 seats on bmi are the best seats in the house. Everything was blue and the seat parts that weren't soft were all suede. We had our own IFE, although it was the kind of outdated type that come out of the armwrest on a big steel tube. The audio was perfect and I spent the first two hours watching a James Bond flick. The food was an excellent 3
course meal including dessert and French wine.
We arrived in Amman around 11pm. We were first in line to get tourist visas, but I had to go back and convert some dollars to dinars, as I was under the impression they took either at the visa desk. The Avis desk had no knowledge of our reservation (not surprising), so it took a good 45 minutes further toget that worked out and wait for them to get another car ready. We drove our little Citroën the 20 miles to Madaba, found our hotel and went to bed around 1:30 am.
Also just finding out that I can't upload or email pictures with an iPhone, so it'll be a day or so before I can put any out from an Internet cafe.
