Few months ago:
My Father: my dear daughter (dear in Hebrew is the same word as expensive, I think that that’s what he wanted to say) I am going to be 60 soon.
Merav: I know, you are old but wise and still good looking…
F: what should we do with this important day?
M: a big party, my only and much respected father. I have already started organizing, it’s the only plan I have - I’ve promised every one that I will be in Israel in November, for your birthday
F: but I don’t want to have a big party, I am thinking of something different..
M: yyyyyyyyyeeeeeessssssssssss????? what’s on your mind?
F: I am thinking of a trip or something…
M: you know that Europe is difficult to travel in for 2 people in wheelchairs, and its difficult to find a van to drive, and its winter time, that is a different problem (thinking: I AM NOT GOING TO DRIVE A VAN FOR DISABLED PEOPLE IN EUROPE!!!!!)
F: its summer in New Zealand
M: sssoooooo?????
F: we are all going to New Zealand
M: what? Are you nuts? New Zealand? Its near the moon, its 30 hours away, are you completely out of your mind? Do you know how difficult it is going to be for you to sit for 11 hours each leg, 2 of them each direction??? Are you crazy????
F: RESPECT!!!! I am your father!!!!
M: yes, you are right, you are my father and that’s for I have to obey!!
So in few hours we are all going to New Zealand. In order to be able to do that I didn’t sleep for the last 3 months: I have finished my internship, the exams and writing and presenting my thesis. Every thing in 3 months (I slept something like 4 hours a night), in order to get the visa permit to visit Australia I had to send my passport to the embassy in Berlin, some more stressing weeks, making sure it will survive the Italian post, etc… I wont tell you all about it because I know I am lucky that those are my problems and because I am running out of time.
It’s the first time we are traveling together, the family. We hope we will survive it without too much stress .
We are going on this trip with mixed feelings, because of the Israeli Gaza situation, because all kinds of personal and health things.
For me it’s the first time in years that my trip is planned by the minute, that I know where and what am I going to do every day…..
The first photo of this trip is of us and the luggage… I do hope that the pother photos you will get to see are as lovely as this one…
Looks like the blog is going to be a little more interesting then the last year of studying in Italy….
