On Monday we took a trip to Tiberius on the sea of Galilee. The first place we went to was Ein Hod, a community of artists. This little village was built on a hill and was filled with galleries and museums of art, such as a special museum we went to that featured a style of art called DADA. We went to the Dada museum were we saw the works of Marcel Jenko one of the creators of this type of art, as well as several different artist's work. Then we went to a music box museum! The man who owns the museum is a really kind guy and showed us his enormous collection of old musical devises. He showed us his many Victrolas, player pianos and lots of old music boxes. He even let me try out his organ grinder. They was an amazing music box that used little tiny pipes that made a bird sing. The bird was still blackened because of the fire on Mount Carmel last fall. I bought a music box from him that plays a really pretty song. Then we went to Tiberius. The city was built but Herod. It is an important city with

many Christian sites. It is also a place where many Jewish sages are buried. At night we saw a water and light show about the history of the city. The next day we went to the tomb of Rabbi Akiva and then the tomb of the Rambam. It was really moving to see all the Jewish people praying and paying there respects. Then we drove to the city of Svdat. Here we met an artist named David Freedman who made art based on the Kabbalah. We explored the city and saw this one place where an old woman used to wait for Messiah to come. Then we got back in the car and drove all the way to the Mediterranean Sea, at the northen border with Lebanon. Here we took a steep cable car down to the grotto which are big gorgeous marine caves. There were fossils in the rock and the sea spray felt good on our faces. Then we startarted our drive back to Tiberius. Along the way we drove past Mount Meron. We went on a wild search for the tomb of Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai (who wrote the Zohar) but we couldn't find it. The next day we tried again. We found it! Here also was a cave where it was said Rabbi Hillel was buried. Then we drove all the way to the ancient city of Beit Sha'en. It was 6,000 years old but hit its peek during the Roman and Byzantine periods. It had the most complete amphitheater in all of Israel. We walked the ancient streets and admired the detailed columns on either side of us. We saw beautiful tile mosaics. It was some of the most extraordinary ruins I ever saw! we all had a exceptional time.
