As we had had a very late flight to Athens we only had time to crawl into bed in the early hours of the morning at the lovely friendly Hotel Port Piraeus. At least check out wasn't until midday so we were able to have a lie in before getting a taxi to the Port and boarding Silver Spirit our home from home over the next 15 days. Sail away later to music and singing and a lovely dinner in the Indochine restaurant. It took a days sailing to cross to the Eastern Mediterranean so we had a day at sea during which we attended a lecture on Jesus in the Holy Land, sunbathed on the top deck and most important of all got our Trivia Team together- 2 Australians, 2 other Brits and one Bermudan, all lovely people, but unfortunately we didn't win. We have done 2 more Trivia quizzes and have managed to win one. First Formal evening so dolled up to the nines we attended the Captains welcome party followed by dinner with two other lovely Brits. Having docked at Haifa, lots of people went on tours but we decided to just walk to the Bahai Gardens, stop for a drink and walk back for lovely lunch. Food on this ship is excellent and all the staff are friendly and helpful. Time to unwind before hectic touring from here on. Unfortunately it has been impossible to upload photos to this site so can't see any future blogs being sent but will try.
I am a retired doctor with 2 kids, one of whom lives in Australia so travelling to the other side of the world has become second nature. Apart from socialising and gardening, travelling is my favourite hobby. I love travelling with my husband as we have the same likes and dislikes when it comes to food, wine and things to do (apart from sport that is !)
