We are here in London (Westminster). The plane ride was actually a lot of fun. I sat next to guy from London. He and I took advantage of the free drinks and had an ice cream fight. I'm sure they loved us! When I got to London, my bag was still over the Atlantic. (It had gotten on the wrong flight). The guy from the plane and I got breakfast and he helped me with the train. I wandered around London killing time and trying not to think about my lost luggage. I went to the Tate Modern. It seemed a little overrated...but it was nice. I met Charles as scheduled and went back the hostel, where my bag still hadn't been delivered. We went to the store and got picnic supplies and had a nice ... read more

Hey all, I survived the massively rainy UK. Well, mostly it was Scotland. I met up with a friend, Steve, in Switzerland on the 24th and we flew to London for a one day stopover. It's amazing what you can see in one day. After we flew to Edinburgh, and ended up on an amazing hop on-hop off bus tour through the highlands. I love Scotland, despite the crazy weather. I've been lucky too, and have eaten decent food from the pubs. Other people haven't been as lucky :) Steve and I parted ways in Fort William, which is next to Ben Nevis, the big mountain in Scotland. I spent another night there doing some small hikes and walks, and then went on to Oban. Oban is a really cute little town, I recommend it. I ... read more

Hi everyone!! I have now arrived in Florence, well yesterday I did. First, I must say that I am in love with Italy. The people are great, especially the Italian men, and so are the views. I cant write much, but I just wanted to let everyone know that I am safe and having a great time. Take care, I must go on a field trip now. Dad, this is way better than any of the field trips I have heard you took a.k.a. ditching class to go to the movies. I love you all!!... read more

So we are in the U.K so it rained today. It was ok. Yesterday we arrived in Oxford, after taking the Chunnel and chaning trains in London. We met up with Jen had a beer at a pub. It was fun. Today Alex and I had an English breakfast: baked beans, cooked tomatoes, potates, bacon and sausage and an egg, plus toast and fruit. It three oclock, we have not eaten since, except these free crackers we got at the station, not recommended. We then headed off to London. We walked through Hyde Park, saw the Diana memorial, very boring, looked like a big wadding pool, saw rotten row and people riding on it, saw the changing of the guard, accidently and St James's palace. We also saw Buckingham Palace and Big Ben as well as Westminister Abbey. ... read more

It happened so quickly. I'm flying home tomorrow, mixed sadness and anticipation. I love Rome - it's noisy and crowded and hot, but I love it. But, I miss my family too. I'm plotting ways to get us all here for a year so that we can explore the city and surroundings at a leisurely pace..... The day before yesterday we hurt ourselves by staying out for 14 hours and walking for probably 12 of them. In the blistering heat. We went to see if we could get into the Vatican Museums and see, especially, the Sistine Chapel. Once again, the lineup was a good 2 hours long, so we decided to do something else. First of all, though, we had coffee and a pastry to fortify ourselves for the day. This time, we chose the ... read more

We arrived in Amsterdam late yesterday afternoon. Dylan joined us in Paris safely at Gare du Nord. (Mama duck, Jeanette, took a sigh of relief that we were all in the same place at relatively the same time) As we exited the station, Jeanette, like a true backpacker, tripped and was taken down on the cobblestone with her 35 pound backpack. I haven't had a skinned knee or elbow since I was like 5. Oh well, it had to happen sometime. I just wish it wasn't in rush hour traffic and at a street crossing. The boys definitely love it here, for reasons more obvious than I am wanting to explain. I for one, was excited for the Van Gogh museum and the Anne Frank museum. The canals became a bit confusing last night, as we ... read more

Hi Everyone-today we were on the Greek island of Santorini, I really loved it here! When we opened the windows this morning the first thing we saw was one of the most beautiful islands. The top of the mountains were covered with whitewashed and sea blue adobe type houses, hotels, churches and cathedrals. I really like it here. We had to tender (small boat) over to the island because our ship could not get close enough to the island. Once we arrived on the island, we had 3 choices to get up the very high, vertical mountain, 1. 600+stairs 2. cable car 3. donkey. Guess what choice I made? Yes, the donkey. Mom, Dad, Brittany and I each got our own donkey, they gave me a smaller one. Mom was so afraid the whole time we ... read more

In the last week of April I was driving listening to the radio in Ireland. A garden expert was talking about some strange garden in Amsterdam, Netherlands called Guekenhof (Keukenhof). He extolled it dearly. It was May bank holliday weekend, I had not other plans. So I packed up my bags and went to visit Keukenhof. Flew by Rayan airways to Eindovan airport. Unfortunately 31st of april is Queens day and the whole of Netherland goes crazy, celebrating their queen. That means 3 hours extra wait in the bus stand for the Amsterdam connection ! while in the airport met this wonderful Korean girl Mira. Such a pleasant and lovely girl who really captured my goodness. She was a backpacer and just like any other backpacker - she was travelling on shoe string budget. During the ... read more
