Woke up at 5:30 am and were in position by 6:30 am to watch the wedding. Were blessed to get two seats on a railing, 25 feet away from where the royal vehicles passed with unobstructed view. People around us were lively. Champagne corks popping - at 6:30 am. Points of interest:
-prince Andrews daughter Eugenia wore a hat so tall she had to be on her knees in their car to and from the church
-the diplomats and minor royals were shuttled to the wedding in very unattractive buses. Looked like a lot of high-heeled tourists on a trafalagar tour bus
-prince William is much more attractive in person.
-prince Phillip the queens husband really seems to like Camilla, Charles wife. They were laughing and smiling together. Sincerely.
-Catherine was beautiful with amazing posture. Lots of blush - perhaps too much.
-the police were friendly, posing for photos . 5000 police in uniform. Officers with machine guns standing in the middle of the street in case of trouble.
-interesting mix of people attending. The British arrived first at our location at 5 am. Then us. Then closer to 9 am a large continent of immigrant Somalians, Chinese, and black Africans people showed up. everyone got along though a couple of the new immigrants didn't get the fact they couldn't budge in front of the people. Or request people sitting on the rail squeeze even closer together than they were to make room for them
-I think it's just a cultural thing for them - if there are 3 extra inches of space free, claim them.
-a horse got loose right in front of us and his rider fell off which caused a big commotion as prince William and Kate where in the carriage behind it. Everyone wanted to get the horse before the other horses all started to freak and rear up too.
-Susan went over to Buckingham palace to watch the kiss. I didn't think I could handle the crush. Plus my derriere was sore from sitting so long. So after all the guests left Westminster abbey I just took the tube back to pur hotel. And was grateful, very grateful, that there were very few people on the tube. No crush of humanity.
So glad I came. I'll remember this forever.
Love to all
Lynn
