Ok so Cyprus doesn't exist on this travelblog's information! THAT'S how insignificant we are, Cypriot's: get over yourselves! You are NOT the navel of the earth as you like to believe!
It's October. I have been on the Island since August, when Andrew and I flew into Larnaca airport at a horrendously early hour and my poor sleepless brother had to pick us up. On top of that we had a delay and i guess that did it to deflate the 'excitment' factor on behalf of Claus's side, over our arrival!Luckily my penthouse was empty so we could stay in it, as the last tenants, kindly left the walls still standing after their departure. As for the rest of the apartments contents: it's debatable.
Andrew and I got straight down to business. The business of re-painting, re-organising and re-vitalising the apartment. it took two weeks of continuous 8 am to 5 pm shifts and a few hectic nights out with friends, eating, drinking being merry and then the apartment was set!
Task number two, involved sorting out the legality of our wedding in India, which proved to be a task un-taskable. So we decided to sign all the
paperwork in a little municipal ceremony, followed by the traditional meat meze in a taverna and again, too much alcohol for our own good!
This time the dress was easy to find, a hairdresser was in charge of my strands and a make up artist made me look like a million euros after only a short 30 min session. Orchids where made into a gorgeous bouquette, pearls and silver strappy shoes completing the outfit!
My stunning husband looked simply ravishing in his grey pinstripe tailor made Bangkok outfit, with a sexy green tie to match the flowers.
The morning of our official signing day, Andy and I got out of bed early and made a massive breakfast, including fruit and veggies, mushrooms, eggs, a big shake, cereal and cocktails! We where going to have a long day and we needed to be prepared!
Friends from all corners of the island came to the small ceremony at the village of Germasogeia. The old stone house with traditional inside courtyard served as the place of legal matrimony and an old friend of my fathers, who happened to own the video shop in our neighbourhood from which I borrowed
a copy of "GREASE" in 1992 and still haven't returned, was in charge of the ceremony. He didn't mention the long lost video tape.
Cocktails at the very swish "Four Seasons" hotel followed and the dinner, as mentioned before, included alot of meat and alot of alcohol. It was great to have my little brother AJ and my dear friends at this celebration and Andy and I enjoyed the night so much. We will definately have to repeat with our Australian friends next! (A good excuse for a party!)
So now we are officially married, we need to go on a honeymoon, right 😉 ?
Well, we went up to the peninsula of Akamas, and camped in the peaceful eucalyptus forest at the village of Polis. It is adjacent to the sea so at night the sounds of the waves crashing to the shore and the multitude of stars is breath taking.
We ate so much fresh fish and drank so much white wine, it was coming out of our ears!
Andy made the discovery of the island wide famous Frappe, a coffee delicacy that can only be experienced to it's fullest, in the hot
humid climate of August in Cyprus!
We spent much of our time exploring villages in remote corners of Cyprus and swimming in the Meditteranean to make up for all those days of hard work on the apartment.
A little too soon, our time together was up. Andy's visa for Saudi Arabia arrived and on the 9th of September he flew of into his very own adventure, for the first time in 9 months without me.
It was meant to be two weeks till we where to meet again. It has been a month and 6 days. no word of a visa for me yet.
It is extremely difficult to keep my chin up high, yet I am proud of my gorgeous husband for making the best out of this situation, for making new friends and doing his best at the new school.
Inchalllah I will be there with him soon, for I miss him and my life is dark without him in it. But I am grateful for this wonderful love we have been blessed with and I trust that soon, the universe will get in motion, to have us in the same part of
the world, together again.
