What to see and not to see from the Czech movie production

"Pelisky" (Czech republic 1999, 116 mins)
"Pelisky", I've been told, is a very czech movie, and a very good one too. Warnings at IMDb did point out the possibillity of things getting lost in translation - and indeed they were. The complete lack of plot, looooong scenes with an unfamiliar sense of humour and no connection to the characters left me nothing but dissapointed.

"Tmavomodry svet" (Czech republic 2001, 112 mins)
Out of the clear blue skies though, came a czech WW2 movie to save the day for us - and the world from the nazis. Excellent crew, both behind and in front of the camera. A gripping tale about friendship tested by war - and a woman.
