Today we made it to our next stop. First, we took the Eurostar from London to Brussels, then high speed rail to Amsterdam. (Well, high speed after we started...train delayed 30 minutes because they were waiting for the driver to get there!) Alex and I then figured out which train to take for our next stop, which was no small task with everything spoken and written in Dutch. We took a 20 minute walk to our flat, and once again we felt great pride in finding it all by ourselves.

The apartment is in a quiet residential area in far west Amsterdam. I'm a little disappointed that the Airbnb host does not live here, but otherwise it's good. The room is very small - Alex and I have bunk beds - but the whole place is very modern, clean, and looks recently renovated. We believe there are three other Airbnb guests; all appear to be about Alex's age.

Alex found a really good Italian restaurant for dinner. Food was great, and the chef kept flirting with Alex, even flashing her a little heart sign at one point! By the time we finished eating it was going on 2200, so we headed home and have been hanging out while running a load of laundry.

The weather here is wonderful: low 60s, cloudy, nice breeze. A really great break from hot, humid London. Alex and I both are looking forward to sleeping without sweating.

Our plan for Tuesday is exploration of Utrecht, a town 30 minutes south by rail, then whatever! Our only for sure plan is the Anne Frank House Wednesday; otherwise, we are winging it. More tomorrow.
