But not today. We've both been working too hard, and now I've got some kind of lurgy. I managed to outrage Dad this morning though, which is never a bad thing. After telling him God only knows how many times, and even inviting him to come to Vietnam with us, he's only just realised that we'll be spending a few months in Asia. He sounded bloody heartbroken! 'Whaddya wanna go *there* for ?' 'You'll die of bird flu! or Banditry!' 'Now I'll have to turn off the tv and not read the papers!' 'oh, I can't stand it!' It was fantastic. Oh, and just quietly, since when do you read the papers? And the Wentworth Courier doesn't count. Best part of my day so far. Apart from the standard 'Poor Stuart' line. Jeez that gets on ... read more

Monday: ugh, another day of school....hehe. It's great to be able to study abroad in another country but Monday mornings are the same no matter what country you're in. Contemporary World--the topic of discussion today was Detente and the confusion or rather disagreement on the use and conditions of the term. Apparently the Soviets don't like to relax as much as the Americans do....but that's for another class. After class I went to the library to return books, check out more books, read, photocopy paperwork for UC registration, etc. Wow....I've never spent so much time in the library since I've been in college. It's amazing how much time I've spent in the library and it's only the 4th week of class!! I'm a nerd: So I couldn't figure out how to use the copiers because you ... read more

We are off again for 10 months travelling with no responsibilites, just backpacks and each other, our third RTW trip now. We are leaving on the 6th November 05 and are planning to stay in India for just over 2 months meeting old friends in Mumbai for a few days then onto Kerala and wherever the spirit takes us. Towards the end of January 06 we shall arrive in 'No Worries!' Oz for a 4WD bushwhacking/fishing trip from Perth to Brisbane via Tassie, we have a 6 month visa so time is on our side. We'll then stop off in the Cook Islands a favourite haunt now, for a top up of paradise and see another new island, and then over to South-West USA if our funds hold out, before coming home. Just spent a small ... read more

Well it's official....our building has set off the fire alarm 4 of the 5 times that it has gone off. It's really annoying....so learn to either shut your kitchen door or to cook-- you choose! Anyways, besides the irritation of having to stand outside because the fire alarm went off again today (someone sets it off about once per week), I'm heading to frisbee practice in a kinda sunny afternoon. It's not too cold out yet which is really nice. ps-this time one of the girls ended up outside in just a towel from her shower. isn't that nice?? and we've been warned that the next fire drill will be in December so we'd better wear jackets and shoes. Hopefully no one is caught in the shower again! This morning I went and got lots of ... read more

I am in the process of trying to survive the last few weeks of work before I have some time to myself. The good news is that it is a month till I leave and I can't wait as the snow will be what I need, at least you shouldn't get people saying gosh it's cold today (yeah right!). Here is a list of where I've been so far in my travels around the world; Costa Rica Nicaragua Panama The Netherlands Portugal Spain France Germany Poland Austria Greece Turkey Italy South Africa Kuwait Suadi Arabia U.A.E. ...and I don't plan on stopping! That's around 60747.25 miles (not including all the times I've been to france!)... read more

Arrived back in the UK on 2 October after an amazing 6 nights in New York with my friend Tracy. Managed to do all the main sights including Ellis Island, Staten Island ferry, Empire State, Central Park, Guggenheim, Macy's, Bloomingdales, Tiffany's and managed to see Rent the musical. Thanks to Cheryl and all my yurt buddies at summer camp for introducing me to the sound track. I loved it. Had a busy time back in the UK. Managed to sort out another visa for the US so am able to work at Sargent Center camp until June 2007. Visited a few friends, oh and managed to drive the mini cooper through a giant puddle, got stuck and now it needs a new engine! Aaaagh. Very expensive visit. Thanks to all those I managed to see or ... read more

Marcus finished at WISC in Oxford on 7th October and made that 'interesting' train journey one last time (for now!) to Glasgow. The happy couple were reunited and Fiona, as usual, had the week's itinerary prepared. On the Monday we headed off to Sallachy near Kyle of Lochalsh. Fiona's father's cousin, Angus, has a house up there and he and his wife, Joyce, have been inviting us to visit for a long time. We were not disappointed. This is true Braveheart country! Castles, lochs, glens and of course mist and rain. But it is beautiful. We spent three days relaxing, taking in the amazing views and being entertained by Angus' stories and enjoying Joyce's cooking. We visited Plockton (home of Hamish MacBeth and where some shots from Highlander were filmed) and even managed it "over the ... read more

Saturday: the day for chores (ie a really boring most of the day spent doing laundry, cleaning my room, and attempting to get homework done so that I don't have to do it during the week and can have some fun). Saturday night: started out very mellow. I was highly entertained by my flatmates cooking pad thai from scratch and the conversations surrounding the method of cooking. Then I headed over to Ruth's to pick up one of my dvds and a list of American products to get for the girls to try....since they don't have them here. No luck finding the list (it has mysteriously disappeared) but I did locate the dvd. Jorge was over convincing Ruth to go out to the bar with him. Finally deciding where they were going I was invited to ... read more
