Hello it's me! Just thought I'd better have another go at this before I leave otherwise I'll get stuck while I'm away and you wont be able to see my piccys and we can't have that now can we?! It's also the perfect opportunity for me to introduce you to my travel companion. His name is Elliot and he's a little grey elephant who will be keeping me company and no doubt appearing in a few photos too! So...4 days now until I'm off on my travels again and I'd love to tell you all that I'm packed, sorted and ready to go but unfortunately as you can see from the Picture, what should be the contents of my backpack is in fact spread all over my bed and most of my room! Vicky and Roddy took us to Stirling today - home to the William Wallace Monument (Braveheart), it gives you the history of the man who struggle to give FREEDOM to Scotland. The monument is built like the tower of a castle, with a narrow and winding staircase about 260 steps. You get to see Williams sword and a view of where the battle of Stirling occured, when Scotland beat the English. It was very cold and windy at the top.... read more

Hi, all - it's been a while since I last did one of these as we've been fairly busy since we got back from our trip back to blighty. I'll have to keep this reasonably brief as Jo-Ann insists that I sepnd too long on the computer. In fact if she had her way, there would be no more blogs...ever. Might not be a bad thing, I'm sure some of you are thinking! Anyway, we had a great trip home despite spending approx 48 hours on planes with only a couple of hours break each way in what felt like a prison cell in LAX. It was fantastic to spend time catching up with family and friends and it certainly brought home to us just how much we miss everyone. What we don't miss however is ... read more

So the time has come for me to finally set of on my around the world trip and hopefully find some of the answers to all my questions or at least have fun trying! I’m heading off on my sabbatical for 4 months with an around the world ticket, my rucksack and a jungle survival book. My first stop and the biggest part of my travel is to Thailand to work for an animal sanctuary located in Kao Look Chang in the Petchaburi province, 24 kilometre’s from the beaches of Cha-am and Hua-hin and about 200 kilometre’s from Bangkok. The wildlife program aims to take in and care for wild animals that have been domesticated or maltreated, and to rehabilitate those that are fit back into the wild. For those animals that are unable to go ... read more

It's finally Friday!!! Yippeee. I'd probably be much more excited if I wasn't still trying to get rid of my cold. Although if it goes away by Monday (aka Halloween) then I'll be a very happy camper. :) On the off chance that it decides to stick around, I'll not be a very happy person to be around...maybe that could be my costume, a grouch. Grouches: Oscar or the Grinch?? or Scrooge?? Hmmm...I'll have to think about all those and decide later. Seminar this morning was educational. It was kinda weird. I'm not used to going to section and discussing a topic that has not been covered in lecture yet. It was kinda strange but I did a little bit of reading for it. However, today was basically a whole other lecture. My coughing got the ... read more
