Cherbourg – Alderney Island (Channel Islands) 25nm

Slight breeze...on the nose. Departed Cherbourg 1100 – and not before due to tidal restrictions. Had a quick but very cold trip over to Alderney. When we got there quite a few moorings were available for us to choose from, but by the end of the day all were taken.

Haven’t been good with the diary so will give an overview of the days spent on Alderney. We hired a car and did our own tour around the island. This was the best way to see all the amazing historical spots that are dotted over the island. Gannet rocks were amazing. Thousands of pairs of gannets live out here, fishing, nesting and exisiting. We could hear the noise from the mainland. Saw many places of interest from the war time. Just a wonderful place to explore. Few rainy days where we hung around the boat and relaxed but mostly sunshine, so good for exploring
