Bodmin - Camelford via Camel trail

Day 7 Bodmin - Camelford

19 miles (201miles overall)

This is the second trip of my slow trail, but starting from the same point - Bodmin Parkway Station. Arriving at midday I made my way through the beautiful Lanhydrock estate in to Bodmin. This involved crossing the A30 on a purpose built supension bridge and then passing the odd few thousand people who were arriving for a blues festival. I ate my sandwiches in a park just below Bodmin Jail and then joined the Camel Trail. After about seven miles of pleasant valley woodland former railway path the track terminated by a spectacular pair of leaping trout sculptures. A fairly steep climb up to the old mining village of St Breward and then out on to the fringes of Bodmin Moor on a delightful meandering lane. Fine views in between the hefty showers.
Eventually dropped down to the sleepy little town of Camelford.
