Newcastle
We board the Balmoral in Newcastle The next two days we will spend travelling, today down to Darlington to drop off the campervan and catch the train back to Newcastle where we boarded the “Balmoral” bound for a 7 day Norwegian Fiords cruise. It was only 85 miles to Darlington so we were able to stop on the outskirts of Newcastle at a shopping centre car park to sort out the campervan - gather our gear together, empty the toilet cartridge, fill with diesel before dropping off the campervan at around 1:45 pm. We were dropped off at the Darlington train station and caught the 2:15 pm to Newcastle and then caught a cab to the Newcastle passenger terminal arriving around 3:30 pm.
Our cabin was spacious and luxury compared to the close confines of the campervan over the last week and a bit. We had dinner in the Spey Restaurant and met two of our regular dining guests who we will share the next 7 nights with. In the evening we attended a variety show in the Neptune Lounge and a small cover band later in the Lido Lounge. Overall, the services in the Balmoral are more than adequate. We left Newcastle dock around 5:30
