My friends and I planned for a weekend away to Wales in April. On a bright morning , we drove to
Colwyn Bay beach in Wales from Nottingham. The water at the beach was freezing as do most of the beaches in the UK. But the freezing water did not dampen our spirits. What if we couldn’t play in the water ; we played on the beach ! Haha ! We played ‘Dog and the bone’ game on the sands of Colwyn Bay beach in the cold gloomy weather. It was fun ! We did spend a lot of time on the beach.
Later, we made our way to
Conwy Castle. The castle stood on the banks of river Conwy. It had a lush green lawn on the boundary and a railway line ran along the length of the castle on one side. After a tour of the castle, we were starving. We walked down to
Conwy Quay in search of restaurants. The boats are usually parked at the Quay and there are benches for people to sit and enjoy the view of the Conwy river. Most of the restaurants there served fish and chips but since most of
us in the group were vegetarians , we had to find a restaurant that would serve something veg. After lunch, we spent time at the Quay strolling and enjoying views of the bay from the benches. There was a small house on that road, painted in red and ‘Smallest House in Great Britain’ written on it.
Post that, we drove to
Llandudno Pier. This pier is in the Irish Sea and has traditional seaside food and shops on the pier. We walked along the pier and it was so windy out there that we had to be careful of not being blown away ?.
We then headed to
Conwy Morfa beach. The place was very scenic with sea on one side and green mountains on the other side. On one side of the beach, there was a small wall , on the other side of which was a small pond and a green lawn around the pond. There were few pine trees on the edge of the pond. It was so picturesque that I wondered why was the pond built on the beach. On the grass, there were two swans ( a couple, I think) walking with
their babies (cygnets). Oh, what a lovely family picture that was! As usual, we didn’t get into the freezing water on the beach but rather played frisby. It was a day well spent!
Next day, we first went to
Harlech beach. The beach was a beautiful one. All the beaches we had visited were great but the water was so cold, we didn’t dare get into it. But today, we were so tempted to get into the water that we did not care about the freezing cold temperature of the water but just played in the water like kids.
We then headed to the famous
Snowdonia National Park. There is a toy train that goes up to the Snowdon peak. I do not remember exactly but I think the tickets were sold out or there was a long queue, we decided against taking the train. We instead had some good chips at the restaurant there and then strolled in a park nearby. Later, before returning to Nottingham, we visited
Pwllheli beach. Lot of water sports activities were happening and many boats were parked on the beach. We strolled on the beach for sometime before heading back to
Nottingham.
