It looked like a window of opportunity for a few days camping last week, before the schools break up. So I went up to the far north westerly corner of Anglesey, and camped at a lovely site overlooking the sea. Luckily I was the only one there as there was only one loo and nothing else! Needless to say, it was very peaceful there, and Bella and I enjoyed exploring the coast. And one day I met up with cousin Janet, for lunch at the Wavecrest at Church Bay (unfortunately it was closed on Wednesdays, but there was a caravan selling coffee and cakes...….). The day before I went, there was an important village rounders tournament to support, Llangyniew v. Dolanog v. Meifod. Great fun for all, I won't go into the details of winners!... read more

Gabby the motorhome is parked up on a free car park in the middle of Welshpool or to give it its welsh name Y Trallwng. Thankyou Powys council for being so kind to give us this free overnight spot within walking distance of the town. Welshpool wasn't treating us like lepers. The car park was huge with spaces for a couple of hundred cars. At the top of the car park a number of cars were parked up. We guessed it was the local bowling club and the members stayed there until around 10 when they drifted away. A few cars were parked at the Poundland shop. Shoppers popping in and out over the evening. It looked like we were in for a quiet night. Hold that thought . How did we end up in Welshpool? ... read more

I thought some pictures were in order as last week was quite busy. Liz came up for a few days, lovely to see her; Ineke and I went to Bala on a rather grey day, and today I had a blustery walk on a high piece of common land the other side of Welshpool. And there may be more soon, as Kathy is visiting from NZ.... read more

A couple of interesting things! Last week, Ineke, Caroline and I went up to Lake Vyrnwy for a walk, and heard the cuckoo. Then I went to Glasgow for the weekend. We had a lovely time, playing games, going to the library and finishing Martha's sewing project. After which we practised knitting, on my very long needles, before a bit of portrait drawing!... read more

Alex had a week's holiday left, to take before the end of March, so we decided to spend a couple of days on the Wirral. We stayed on the side facing Wales, where the estuary is varied, mud flats, tidal marsh and some beaches. Mostly we used the Country Park called the Wirral Way, and walked a lot. Caching as we went! Once home, we celebrated Dad's birthday a bit early, as Liz had come up for a few days.... read more

It was Caroline's birthday today so we celebrated with a walk on top of Long Mountain. It had snowed earlier so it was very pretty and crunchy underfoot, and the distant hills were very white. We had a nice walk round, then met Ineke for coffee and the giving of gifts. Happy Birthday.... read more

It was great fun to see Liz and Tom this weekend, Tom being the chauffeur on this occasion. They arrived on Friday night, and Tom erected a tent in Dad's garden for sleeping! On Saturday we all had hot cross buns with our coffee, then we left Dad to have a snooze quietly whilst we had a breath of air and a cuppa. Shortly after that, we tucked into curry, except Dad, whose tummy still isn't quite up to it after the bug he had.... read more

These days everyone's either at work or at school during the week, so I did a quick weekend trip to visit. Sophie was just back from New York, and Tom left for London on Saturday night, so my effort wasn't such a big deal after all. We had a great time, a bit of staying at home and a bit of going out. And before you know it, the weekend's over and your home again. It was worth it, it was lovely to see them all.... read more

Today was Ineke's birthday, so Caroline, Ineke and I decided to go for a walk and then for lunch at a nice café beside the canal. It was a bit wet to start with, but the sun came out in the end. On the way home we called in at Dads, where we celebrated with a glass of wine. Happy birthday, Ineke.... read more
