After arriving in Inverness the night before we decided to hit the road and spot "nessie" the famous lochness monster. We headed to the popular Urquhart Castle which was on the lochness. It was such an amazing castle - well what was left of it - that took up most of the day also with a quick visit to the Lochness Exhibition Centre which gave us an explanation of Nessie and the history behind the big search for her.
The following day (Thursday) we left Inverness - which was great as there was NOTHING to do in town - and headed to Fort William. After the 4 hour bus trip down to Fort William we finally arrived at our hostel. It was situated just a 10 minute UPHILL walk from town with an amazing view!! have a look in our photos - words cannot describe how beautiful the view is here!! We had our first home cooked meal in a week - ems awesome spaghetti bol!
On the Friday we decided it would be pretty cool to head out to see the famous Harry Potter bridge at Glennfinnan. After meeting a really nice local who complained about how everyone
gets the Jacobite (harry potter themed train that is a total rip off) and makes the normal local train busy he gave us some advice on where to sit to get the best view. We arrived in Mallaig (end of the train line) and waited around for about 2 hours for the train to take us back to Fort William. There wasnt much to do or see there except watch the massive seagulls attack each other. As you could probably tell its not a very big or touristy town.
As the days were passing so quick Saturday finally came around and it was time to say farewell to Fort William :-( We got the train into Glasgow and then changed lines to go just 2 stops out of the city centre where we decided it would be pretty cool to CAMP! So we headed for the one and only caravan park near Glasgow. After setting up the tent which took about 15 minutes instead of 5 as Corey wanted to make sure he had the instructions right we played cards for a few hours (where Emily kicked butt in Rummy!) and watched a beautiful sunset over Glasgow.
(Sunday)
After a horrible sleep with NO mattresses or pillows on a cold night with an extra long and well needed sleep in we took our time and washed all our stinky clothes - which was our worst washing experience yet taking 2 hours..as there was only ONE washing machine and dryer to the whole caravan park and wasnt a very good one we decided to hit Glasgow city centre up! We saw the filming of World War Z (Brad Pitts new film about zombies) we wandered the streets and then saw a movie - Captain America! Which was very enjoyable way to spend our last day in Glasgow!
(Monday) We packed up our tents and headed to the airport. After 2 trains and 3 bus rides we finally made it to the airport on our way to Cardiff in Wales! Since we didnt check our flight info out correctly we were charged an extra 60 pound (100 bucks) to add our luggage on to the plane!! ( sneaky website didnt say luggage wasnt included! ) After a really quick flight and wonderful views of Wales from the plane we finally touched down safely in Cardiff! We caught the local
skybus into the central train station and walked bout 1 km or more to he local caravan park which was in the centre of carfiff right behind a big and beautiful park and castle. We set up our tent and then headed into town for dinner at the local Gatekeepr pub where yes.. corey ate pie!
Head to our next blog for what we get up to next!!
