Had the most relaxing day today!! Woke up after a very comfortable sleep and headed to a continental breakfast, from which I had scrambled eggs, bacon, some sort of Scottish bread thing, fruit, yoghurt, and mini pastries. My plan was to fill up on breakfast so I wouldn’t have to buy lunch. It didn’t work.

After breakfast Trudi, Bec, Taylor and I went for a walk into Peebles town, where we had a coffee at a really cute cafe. We walked back and Bec and I went for a swim in the big pool with the little cousins. We were in there from 12-2:30, and the only reason I got out was because I had a massage scheduled for 3pm!

I had a full body massage for an hour and it was pure bliss. I’m not even stressed but it made me less stressed. Headed back to the room and started getting ready for the big party tonight.

Drinks began at 5:30pm, and then at 6:30 we headed outside to take a massive family photo (understandably, I was behind the camera). We then headed up to the private function room in the hotel for a three course meal.

In preparation for dinner, menus were sent out a few months ago for everyone to pick what they were having. Trudi picked for me, and I remember at the time she texted me double checking that I liked brioche, I said I did and she said oh good that’s what I picked for your entree. So I was looking at the menu they’d put on the table, and I couldn’t see brioche at the beginning of any meal. So I asked Trudi was she sure I had brioche because it wasn’t on there, and she frowned and looked at the menu and immediately put her hand over her mouth.
“The brioche comes with the chicken liver.”
So. That was an interesting realisation. The dishes were brought out and I stared at the pink square of mushed up chicken liver on my plate. I knew I had to just be brave and try it, so I sliced off a corner and ate it. Well, I chewed it. I couldn’t actually bring myself to swallow chicken liver. Trudi eventually insisted that we swap meals (she had a tomato and mozzarella salad) because it was her mistake (bless her) although she ended up not being able to swallow it either. Main meal was delicious (roast chicken with herb mash, veggies and a garlic sauce) and dessert was amazing (sticky toffee pudding). During dessert trudi’s grandad played a beautiful video of all his adventures with his wife over their 50 years, along with a slideshow of all their children and grandchildren. We then drank and danced the night away!

Well, until midnight, when we had to leave the function room. But about a quarter of us sat in a lounge room having some more drinks and laughs until about 3am, when I suddenly realised I’d probably had a little bit too much to drink, and decided to head to bed. Okay I think by now everyone should have realised I’m very behind with these posts, but we’ll get there.
