Ortsnamen, die uns erheitern: Earlish and Breakish. Wir sind heute nämlich ziemlich breakish, weil earlish, weil wir einige Meter machen müssen, 180km um genau zu sein, was bei Single Track Roads ziemlich viel ist, wir sitzen also - mit Pausen - von 10.00-20.00 im Auto. Unser erstes Ziel ist der nördlichste Ort in Portnalong, danach überqueren wir die Skye Bridge, sehen Castle Moile, Castle Ailean (wow!!!), jausnen am Loch Carron Aussichtspunkt und weiter geht's durch die Gegend um Achnasheen, die uns viel zu verlassen vorkommt für die Vielfältigkeit, die sie bietet. Wälder, steppenartige Abschnitte, Lochs... aber auf 18 Meilen nur ca. 12 Häuser. Wir sitzen in Ullapool am Steinstrand und quatschen mit einem Schotten aus Aberdeen, dessen Hund vor uns seelenruhig auf den Kiesel kackt, bis die rasch steigende Flut unsere trocknenden Füße wieder nasszumachen droht ... read more

The day looks like it is going to be dry but it looks to be windy away from the where the chalet is located. We had a lie in this morning and won’t be in too much of a hurry to get out and about as nothing in the Highlands seems to have any urgency about it so we shall simply join the flow. The sun keeps appearing from time to time and the purple heather on the hills further up the valley show up more vividly than when the light on the hills is dull when the clouds roll over. There are no words that can properly summarize my time in Scotland; no words that can even come close to explaining to you all what an amazing and magical place it is. But for you guys, I will do my best to give you an idea of what it's like. My trip to Scotland took place on the 19th of June, and it could not have been better timing. - Dublin 12th - 13th December 2015 My first trip across to Europe was just a wee flight to Ireland to explore the city of Dublin. We arrived in the pouring rain, and it didn’t stop the whole time we were there – a very realistic representation of Ireland apparently. Dublin is a cute, quaint city on the East coast with a river running down the centre dividing the city. The architecture around the city is very Georgian, and particular landmarks stand out from the rest such as the Dublin castle, Parliament and St Patricks Cathedral, all quite significant to the city. Inside St Patricks Cathedral is truly remarkable, the stained glass and the history of the building is so intriguing. Last weekend, I went on one of my favorite trips of my time here in Scotland. I took a 3-day tour of the Scottish Highlands with a group of 15 other people and the best tour guide ever, Nory. He made friends with everyone almost immediately and really made the trip, because he was determined to make sure everyone had a great time. He told vibrant stories and played music along the way to keep everyone entertained and make sure everyone understood the history behind the sites they were seeing.
