After spending a couple of good weeks with family we were off again to explore Scotland. This time we headed up into the highlands to some trekking. We caught a train about halfway up the West Highland Way and made several treks in the Crianlarich area. Perfect weather was on our side and made this hill-walking even more beautiful. The walk was everything from small farms with livestock roaming the hillsides through dense forests past small waterfalls through more farms, more cows, more sheep, big birds, rabbits and more colors of green than you can imagine. We had such a good time we headed a little further to the northern end of the Way in Fort William. We did more walking along the beaches of the rivers and along the Lochs watching boats pass. We stopped ... read more

Um mal Jana zu zitieren: Come in and find out ;)... read more

I'm back home and ready for the final installment...week three and the Scotland leg. Day 17, Tuesday 19th August: Belfast - Larne - Troon 28.81 miles Average speed 10.8 mph Time spent peddaling away: 2 hours, 38 mins The 3 Aussie women I'm sharing a dorm with are all up at 8am preening themsleves, I can't imagine travelling with a second change of clothes anymore, let alone a hairdryer and full make-up bag!! Great cafe in the hostel so get myself a full irish in a soda roll for breakfast, just what I needed for a hard morning on the internet! Taking it easy today after my fall yesterday, especially as my ribs are achig rather worryingly this morning. Discover I have ripped my lovely, expensive, waterproof panniers during my fall so try patching them up ... read more

Day 2 After an uncomfortable and boring night in Gairlochy campsite, I got up early(7am) and had my breakfast and packed my stuff away. My plan was to get to Fort Augustus by late afternoon(24miles). The next village to stay was South Laggan, which was only 8 miles away. It was too close to make it worthwhile staying as it would only take 2 hours to walk there and I would have to spend the entire day hanging around in my one man tent. After South Laggan the only other option apart from wild camping was Fort Augustus, so onwards I went. This days walk was a big improvemnet on the first one. The first part to South Laggan was over an old military road. Very straight and not that high so I was able to ... read more

Hi everyone. Been a while since I added any entires on to this site. Been meaning to let you know all about my walking holiday I went on from Fort William to Inverness, that I had in MAY. The walk is an extension to the West Highland Way which I completed last year. Like I said, it runs from the end of WHW at Fort William though 74miles of the Highlands to the centre of Inverness. I got the bus to Fort William from Glasgow Buchannan St Bus Station. Ticket only cost £5 if booked online. The start point is facing the bus/train station so it was easy to find. The first few miles are simlar to to the WHW, as in that you are mostly walking though small woodland areas, beside houses with many dog ... read more

Mat: Well summer, if indeed you could call it a summer, is over. The leaves are falling, as is the thermometer. We were lucky to have quite a few friends and family visit us here at Lady E’s after our Europe trip, so I thought I would pop a few pics up of our recent Scottish escapades. The day before Trace left Slovenia to fly back to Scotland, she found out that the visa she had been writing an application for was changing - in six day’s time! The new and improved “innovator’s visa” required a £200,000 investment from the applicant, not the type of money we have kicking about. So, upon arrival back home, Trace spend a frantic five days drawing together the application that we had previously been intending to consult an immigration specialist ... read more

Well, my first post. Katie and I just got back from a beautiful roadtrip to Tighnebruaich, a small community way up north in Scotland. We're going to be working with the Maxie Richards Foundation, so we went up to see King's Court, where some of the guys are staying. We got to see the Kilbride Church, which has been stripped down and offered up for Maxie's use, and the site of where we hope to be able to open another house like King's Court, but for women. The majority of the 2 or so hour trip was spent remarking on the incredible beauty of our surroundings, which you'll be able to see from some of the pictures. Getting to see these sites is awesome motivation for us, and we can't wait to get started and see ... read more

"The Scottish Government has announced new measures to ensure that stocks of haggis are reared along humane standards, ensuring a cruelty free environment and nice death. In a deal with the Scottish Greens, thought by commentators to be a trade off over the recent budget controversy, all Scottish caught haggis will have to achieve a live weight of 1.2kg before slaughter and be fed on a diet of worms and mixed grain. Haggis stocks are low due to a high uptake for Burns night and pressure from corporate shoots to provide plenty of entertainment for paying customers, though Haggis beaters, who depend upon the high volume, will be petitioning the Scottish Government on the issue. In other news, Afghan farmers will be selling Fair Trade heroin in selected outlets in Britain . . . . " ... read more
